my god it's a gorgeous sounding amp and isn't too heavy for me.. I've had worse but it's big for sure, good thing for the casters. Normally I'd remove them right away but I don't feel as bad rolling a SS amp around. I always worried about rattling the shit out of valves

I've always had a desire to buy a jc-120, but I never seem to pick one up when I have the cash laying about. I guess I just can't justify dropping the cash on a solid state amp these days.

I don't know about that one. I always thought the same when I played them in a store or something, but I used one in my old band. If you turn it up over so loud that the speakers start to sound as if they are on their last breath, the "distortion" knob up to maybe 5-7ish and use a heavy strum it got a tone that I liked, just stay the hell away from that bright switch!! the worst built-in distortion EVER must've been in my old Super Twin Reverb... oh man it was -how did they state it in the Guitar Player review- "flick it on, and you'll swear the mighty super is powered by an old battery" (or so...)
ridiculous for a 180w combo.
the JC120's "distortion" might work with some humbuckers, to give you some slight overdrive. but well, that's what pedals are for.
the chorus/vibrato are spectacular, thought, right?
