(Silverface era) Fender amp guide - Where to find?
I'm pretty sure there must exist a comprehensive guide to Fender amps and cabinets out in the web somewhere - all the models, variations, specs, design changes etc.
Please show me where to go!
Sorry, I'm also sure that I'm not the first one to ask.
My searches produce thousands of answers and yet I couldn't find nothing what I'm looking for:
For example which models were produced when? When did they have cloth with light blue or with orange stripes? Have there been special cabinets to fit a specific amp top or even several ones with different speaker configurations? Or where there just generic extension cabs? When did they have piggy backs, tilt legs, banana plugs for reverb tank etc. etc. etc.
I'm not in the market for something specific, just want to have an overview for reference.
Personally I'm most interested in the Silverface era from 1968 on through the 70s, especially.
Thanx

I don’t know if there is a source specifically for silver face amps, but there’s some good info in vintage Fender catalogues. This source has a database where you can look up the catalogues by year: https://www.vintageguitarandbass.com/fender/catalogues/

Ampwares has decent info - maybe not everything you're looking for but it might be a good place to start.

Oh wow what memories Ampwares brings!!! I used to spend eternal hours over there, back when i joined my first online forum, the Plexi Palace Forums... that was, what, about 20-25 years ago?! *sigh*SonicJazz wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 7:22 amSonicjazz thanks Surfysonic!
