live monitors

Post by jakeisjake » Thu Feb 06, 2025 10:17 am

I wasn't sure where to put this:

We have a small space to play...we haven't used monitors (just the house speakers). Over all it's ok...but, I guess not.

We're looking for couple of small monitors that won't overwhelm the space, but will help us hear ourselves a bit better.

Of course, not breaking the bank is important too.

so...maybe 250w/12-15" speakers

Under $300?

Any recommendations?
If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...

in other words, at that price point...they are all basically the same in quality (which is probably poor)?

They’re not bad. Hard to repair if they fail thanks to SMT but will sound decent.

I love these Yamahas. Have used them for years as monitors and have traveled and gigged with them a lot. Always consistent and haven’t failed. They are a little more…but worth it imo.

Edit: sorry..just noticed you were looking for under $300 for a pair. You might be able to find a discount or find some used ones. When it comes to these kinds of things, I feel like people may usually end up spending more by spending less in the long run. YMMV though. I’m not the best versed in this realm

In that case, check and see if you can get a sweetwater or musiciansfriend coupon etc…
