Egnater Rebel - anyone heard any news about these?
This was something shown at Namm this year. Its part of the Tourmaster series that GC is pushing right now, and looks like a killer little amp. The demo model has a 1-20 watt attenuator built in, a switchable power tubes section 6V6 to EL84 (which is supposed to be footswitchable in the production line supposedly), and a pre and post volume on the 3 band EQ. All in a head just a little bigger than an Epiphone valve junior. The problem is that they're really not advertising them, just leaking videos and demos here and there. They're all over youtube, but no one at the dealers (which is GC, so no surprise there...) seems to know anything about them. I tried emailing Egnater but haven't gotten any response. Anyone know/heard about these amps?

Well I got a reply from Egnater, they were quite nice. For those that are interested, they sent me the PDF of the manual to this great new amp. They've added a few features I didn't know about, like:
Bright switch (+8 dB @ 4 kHz)
Tight Switch (-6 dB @ 180 Hz)
4, 8, 16 Ohm outputs (one each, so daisy chaining will be needed for multicab setups)
Single input
Watts knob for 1-20 watt power output to allow cranked power tubes at low volumes
Master Volume to crank said power tubes
Gain knob for preamp gain
"british character" EQ with Bass/mid/treble, plus the bright and tight switchable peaks
Tube compliment:
Preamp tubes (3) 12AX7A/ECC83
Output tubes (4) - one pair EL84, one pair 6V6GTA
The power tube selection seems to be only on the front panel, so I guess the footswitchable tube idea didn't pan out for them. Maybe it can be modded to flip the tube selector switch remotely (I hope). There are two switches on the front panel, one ON/OFF and one 3 way where EL84/standby/6V6 are the choices.
AC power set switch for 100/117/230 VAC and 3 speaker outs (4,8,16 ohm) on back, as well as an effect Send/Return.
I think that's most of the important parameters - their email said they'd be in guitar centers nationwide by the end of August for $599 and there are 1x12 cabs for $249 and 2x12 cabs for $449 that go with it.
I hope that helps anyone who's interested in these, I've been looking for that kind of info for a long time.

It's really interesting to me that the two power tube choices would be EL84 and 6V6. Despite looking totally different, those tubes are actually relatively similar as far as operating parameters. I guess they sound a little bit different from each other, but not as different IMO as say a 6V6 and EL34. Maybe in that amp they do, who knows. On second thought, perhaps the similarity of operating parameters is what allows them both to be used and switchable.
Who knows. Seems like an interesting amp with some cool new concepts, but what matters is how it sounds. I guess that remains to be seen.
