Re: New Fender Princeton?
So, Ted wrote back with this advice:
øøøøøøø, is that what you've got to sell?
Interesting, no?Hi,
I would use an AlNiCo Signature 8S, 4 ohms.
øøøøøøø, is that what you've got to sell?

I guess Ted wants us to do business. WTF, shall we set up some paypal? It might be brilliant in my amp.øøøøøøø wrote:Maggieo wrote: So, Ted wrote back with this advice:

Re: New Fender Princeton?
PM sent. Speaker's yours if you want it, but a brand new one from Ted is only like 10 dollars more (or 30% more however you want to look at it, haha).
I'm surprised he didn't recommend the 8100F, but whatever. The good thing about Ted's speakers is that they tend to sell on eBay for right around the same price as new, because Ted has a wait period, at least for the "vintage series" stuff. He makes each speaker to order, so many people would be willing to pay new price or even a hair over new price just to not have to wait 2-3 weeks to have a speaker made. So whatever you get, if it doesn't float your boat, you won't lose money on it.

Re: New Fender Princeton?
Further proof that I am turning into øøøøøøø's mini-me:
When I saw a photo of the '65 Princeton Reverb "re-issue" and noticed that the pots are all on a PCB, I was offended and enraged that Fender would pull such a bullshit move.
BTW, for those playing at home, øøøøøøø's Weber speaker sounds RAD in my '65 Vibro Champ.

Re: New Fender Princeton?
AFAIC, Fender stopped making amps with the Rivera-era amps.
My Deluxe Reverb II, Musicmaster Bass Amp and Vibro Champ heartily agree.

Re: New Fender Princeton?
Yeah you know I imagine that old diehard engineers like that wouldn't get annoyed that their old stuff is so reliable and try to sell cheap knockoffs of them. I figure they'd go into new areas, like... everybody adores Fender reverbs, why not make a spring tank pedal for the mass market? Why not go into effects pedals in general? Why not branch out into still other avenues, different instruments, consumer electronics, etc? Sure, the Fender diehards would say, "OMG Fender sold out", but you know what? Keep those old tube amps and quality guitars in production at the same time, how impossible can it be, I wonder? Bah, I'll never understand how these companies operate. Oh well! Three cheers for the internet.
