People using multiple amps, linking two amps together?

Post by mavsbball » Mon Aug 04, 2008 5:55 pm

hi, i have a a vox ac-30 and a fender hotrod deluxe and i was wondering is it possible to link them together so i can switch between them with some type of pedal? if so what would i need and also can i use my pedal board for both amps if so. i would like to try this because i have been unable to get a decent sound out of my vox with my JM when it is set up for my ric 360. (also if anyone has any good tone settings for the amp as a general setup that might help also) Thanks.

An A/B switch would do the trick. Just put it at the end of your effects chain, then you can choos eone amp or the other.  You could even make one, pretty cheaply if you are inclined.
I prefer their older stuff.

would the same be true if i wanted to use one amp as a distortion sound and one as the clean, in regards to the a/b box?

no problem.

i used to do this in the olden days:

A/B box > A channel: AC30 clean
            > B channel: Marshall with dirtbox
Nobody exists on purpose.

If you plan on ever having both running at the same time, make sure the amps are putting out the same polarity of signal and that the speakers are wired accordingly.  Otherwise it will suck the bottom out of the sound and make it thin and anemic.
