FUZZ_KING wrote: I borrowed a JTM45 Bluesbreaker combo from a friend and it does sound different... a marshall head is normally used in conjunction with a closed cab, while the combo version has an open back - it has more of a chimey, ringing quality to it. I love it! Less heavy, a bit less projection than a closed cab... but think of a Fender combo with three balls.
+1 a little different but still good, I owned one for awhile.

I want one. Even thinking of having my 50w plexi built into a cab just like the bluesbreaker one. That would be nice.  :?

I thought the Bluesbreaker was basically the JTM45 circuit but with EL84s? It's also possible that I'm confused.

edit: I'm thinking about the 18w. Proceed. :)

Wait until he starts playing and accompany him. That's always awesome.

Speaking of fucking and accompaniment; years ago my roommate and I had a neighbor with a screamer of a girlfriend.  We got sick of her making noise and waking us up so we decided to accompany her by screaming and groaning as loudly as possible in unison...problem solved (no more noise after that)!  Now that was awesome!

Now back to the topic...the JTM45 is MUCH better in combo form (Bluesbreaker) as it can be overwhelmingly bassy and somewhat muddy with a closed back cabinet.  With an open back it sounds like what Fuzz_King described...chimey and ringing.

Both bluesbreaker/JTM45 are 6L6 amps...the 18W uses EL84s.

On another note...the bluesbreaker should be renamed the "backbreaker" because it weighs a friggin' ton.  I put my JTM45 head in a custom 1x12 combo cabinet and like it WAAAAY better than hauling around a 4x12 and/or a 2x12 combo cabinet.

My parents had a similar problem when they were first married and living together. What they figured out to do was they'd wait until it seemed like they'd "built up a head of steam" (my dad's words) then call the house. The people would stop, rush to get the phone, and my dad would hang up.
They did this a few times until the idea was gotten across.
Luckily star-six-nine didn't exist at that point in time.

Id have ignored the phone..
I had a JW come calling at the GFs house
once when we were in the roll..
And the F'er kept ringing the bell for what must have been 10 minutes

So we did stop, figuring it must have been important..
