I don't usually see any rhodes going for less than $800-$900 up here..øøøøøøø wrote:
$800 is a good deal for a suitcase but a bit high for a stage IMO. But things may have changed. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if $800 was fair for a stage nowadays.
I remember when you could get smallbox 50W plexis (slightly buggered up w/ master volumes, etc) for $450 and 800s were despised like the new Marshalls of today are! Yeah...I guess I'm oldnorthern_dirt wrote: the 800 sounds better to me..
I remember, back when I got my 1/2 stack 900, you could buy 800 and 900 combo's for $500 used..
Combo's back then were always cheaper than a head alone.. which makes NO sense, but times have
changed..

I agree - $800 is a lot for a stage but probably an okay deal on a suitcase. If it's a stage, I would hold out for something in the $500-$600 range. Also, there is a pretty dramatic difference between many of the Rhodes models - if I were you I would check on the Rhodes Supersite and listen to the differences between the models to get an idea of what your flavor is. All Rhodes aren't the same - I prefer the earlier ones with the felt hammers like Bitches Brew era Miles/Herbie. Of course I'm also super picky about tones so your own mileage may vary...gregovertone wrote: the rhodes is killer, but $800 is A LOT for a stage.
yep. My feelings (and taste) exactly.glimmertwin wrote: [All Rhodes aren't the same - I prefer the earlier ones with the felt hammers like Bitches Brew era Miles/Herbie. Of course I'm also super picky about tones so your own mileage may vary...
