There are lots of boutique builers going after the black panel fender amps and "playing around" with the circuits. I think the most notable one would be Allen. I've been wanting a Deluxe Reverb from him for some time. His take on that design removes the vibrato function, adds a mid knob, a variable tone control bypass knob (called raw), and tosses in a two knob reverb for good measure. Pretty cool IMO and for way less then a vintage deluxe. Of course there's a ton more investment potential in the real thing... :-\

The good thing about most botique amps is that they usually carry a high resale value. If you find a builder with a long waiting list, you can often make more than what you paid.
