I always considered that Marr guy to be a reasonable person  ;)

Again: Thanks for the replys, guys! i looked at all the manufacturer's pages, but they don't seem to offer what I'm
looking for, I really don't feel like spending hours in the workshop to fit a head in a chassis, I'm just too clumsy.
I sent out an inquiry to Gomez Amps for a combo, already.

I've been on the Internetz for 2 days straight with only a few hours of schleep and look what I found:

http://www.electrosonicamplifiers.com

Looks like they can built what I want - njummy. Hope they're shipping outside US.

Since you are in Europe, have you considered a Selmer?  I've heard good things about Thunderbirds and Zodiacs.  Kind of a cross between a Marshall and Vox sound, from what I understand.

Selmer = needle in a haystack. The Beatles and the Animals used them before Vox began endorsing. They are great, I saw a retro-mod band a while ago, and the guitar player had one. Great sound!

Really?  I see them on eBay UK pretty often.  Maybe they aren't so common on the continent.

I'll keep an eye on the UK Bay, then. Most Selmer amps stayed in UK I think, since they got overrun by Vox before
becoming really popular. What I mostly do is to search for items that are shipping to my location in the 1st place,
so I don't have to go through the nasty process of asking the seller if he's willing to ship to my place, and then mailing
forth and back until the auction is closed, anyway. But that's really limiting the number of hits, of course.

Arrggh I'm totally obsessed by now. Ga-ga-gas!

Has anyone tried the RI Super Reverbs?

They seem to be a lot nicer than the RI Bassmen...

I played through a Super RI, and I really liked it.  Of course, I was playing a XII through it, and drooling the whole time.  It would seem that people are happy with them, because I've only seen a couple for sale used, where the Twin RI's are everywhere for around 650 clams.  Of course, they probably sell ten times as many Twins, too.

So does Lee Ranaldo, my favorite Sonic. But I'm not much into the star power thing anymore.

I've been looking at it, and it''s quite an option, 1300.- EUS would be okay, but it always seems
the most promising amps are not under 35 kilos. Too bad there isn't one store in my area that
carries them all. Anyway, I hate guitar shops.

Maybe 1st thing to do is to give the Deluxe Reverb an overhaul, and grab an external cab for
the next few weeks, until I can sell the other stuff and keep looking at:

Custom or modded Bassman RI (24 kgs - yeah!)
Deluxe Reverb RI
Vox AC30-50 Combo
Framus Ruby Riot

The Gomez Company already got back to me - they seem really top-notch. A combo version of
the Bassman is not planned, and a custom version is maybe a longtime project, but not something
I can get in the next few months ($$$!)...

I recently got the new VOX AC15H1TV and really like it. Don't let the 15W rating fool you, it's very well suited to gigs and has very good lows because of the large cab and the Alnico Blue speaker. It breaks up readily especially on channel one but it also allows more headroom with either the lower gain input or running the ef86 as a triode. It sounds very ehhmmm... VOXY but it's definitely a bit rougher and rawer than an AC30 at slighly lower volumes, which makes it easier for me to handle in my band situation. Also the pricing, although hefty, is still in the green range compared to (maybe slighly better built) some boutique offerings.

What a great guitar & amp combination. That surely looks classic.
I tried to find some reviews on HC, but nothing... strange. I'm a bit afraid it will not keep up with a hard-hitting
drummer, considered it's 15 W - I think I need just a little more headroom, but I'm almost drooling over its looks.
