Has anyone here ever tried the Quilter Overdrive models (200 & 202)? They're hard to just 'pick up' here in the UK to try out.

I might order from Thomann and just return it if it's not suitable.
I borrowed one at a gig a couple of years ago (Toneblock 200) and it was really, really good. I've been on the hunt for one ever since but missed out on a couple. So good that it was one of those gigs where multiple people commented on how great the guitar sound was, which was extra surprising because it was about 04:00 and everybody was super drunk.

Well, I figured that returns policies are there for a reason so I've just ordered a Toneblock Overdrive 202 and a Superblock US to do a shootout at the next rehearsal. I can keep/return/etc as I like then with just a little return postage to pay for the convenience.

Very nice, I'm really interested to see what you think of the two. Not much info about the overdrive is there? I've looked at the overdrive and thought 'is that emulating a Dumble?' and so always avoided it cause I'm not too keen on the bright Dumble sound.

If the Superblock US ticks all the boxes I may just have to get one myself. Recently I've just been turning up to gigs with a Sansamp (when I play bass) and it's just so easy. Plus it sounds great. If I could do that with guitar too it would be amazing.

Something that sounds as good as a Sansamp does for bass, but for guitar, is a dream really. The Dumble sound is basically a hotrodded BF Bassman, no? You'd probably like it now you've seen the light :D

When they arrive I'll do a review/demo/whatever. I'll probably send you a video on Whatsapp too :D

Ah that makes sense (seeing as the Bassman is so fucking great) so the Overdrive version could be the perfect one for portability.
All the Dumble videos/sounds I've seen have just been blues lawyers noodling with loads too much top end.
Looking forward to your videos! 8)

I really like my Quilters (101 non-reverb and 201) and I’ve wanted to try an OD200 for awhile now! I think any guitarist should give them a go because even if they don’t end up being your main amp they are still an exceptional back and/or practice amp. I’d gladly gig my Quilters and will always have at least a couple around. Forum member vistavision has the Superblock US and really digs it.

Something like this, great little amp with lush cleans and spring reverb. I recently missed a 40 version sadly.

Currently using this because it's cheap, light and looks good. Horrible fizzy drive, but clean works fine with drive pedals, and I don't need premium sound for playing at home.

Well, lots of things factor into what we perceive as "loud." 1 watt can be VERY loud if you have lots of speaker surface area and high efficacy speakers and want a very over driven tone. I've never given watts much thought beyond available headroom, which is something I want; lots of headroom.

I have never used my 101 or 201 and thought that it needed any more power, in fact, I rarely go above 2-10 watts on the master through a 2x12 or 1x15 set-up. They keep up with my Twin Reverb and Peavey Special 130 just fine but it's not like I'm cranking any of these exceptionally loud amps either.

So, just to make sure we're on the same page, you want something that sounds good, is small, and has the potential to be super low volume. Right?

If so, my suggestion of the Spark Go stands. It has four presets that are surprisingly good out of the box (although I made tiny tweaks to them with the app) and I feel that most presets are less usable tones and more a showcase. The app displays everything as knobs and sliders, emulating how what's being modeled is controlled, and there's some very classic pieces of gear emulated.

I honestly just straight up enjoy the tone of a Jaguar into preset 2, which is a slightly crunchy overdrive tone. It actually inspired me to make changes to how I have my pedalboard set up because it was that nice.

I come home from work sometimes and just lay on my bed with a guitar and the Spark Go to decompress. If my wife comes home I get a phone call I can lower the volume enough that it's not obtrusive, but it also gets loud enough to be heard downstairs. That in particular is the part I feel really nails what you're looking for.
Just in case anybody read my post with interest and hasn't already snapped one up while also being OK with Amazon... Prime Day sale on them! :w00t:

I've tried Spark Mini 10w and was pleasantly surprised. Pretty big sound from such small device and very usable presets and effects for iOS.

Well, yes, perception is an odd beast. I'm sure they're more than enough.

Apologies if resurrecting this thread isn’t the best way to ask this question, but I’m wondering what people think of the newish Positive Grid Spark 2 or if anyone has other thoughts on what cheap little practice amp might be a good fit for me. I’m very happy with my Yamaha THR10II as except for the lack of an effects loop or internal looper. I understand why those features aren’t included given the price point, but it seems like it kind of defeats the point to drag out a pedalboard to practice with my looper. Does anyone have experience with the Spark 2 looper or know of a similar bedroom amp with an effects loop?

I've got a Spark 2 sitting next to me and I have to say the thing sounds great. Oddly enough the built-in presets are a little more "LOOK AT ME!!!" than the presets that came in the Spark Go, so I definitely went immediately to the app and changed things to my tastes, but the stereo spread on this thing is wild and the core sounds are solid.

The funny thing is that it being digital I would've expected the latency (processing time, since it is a little computer) to be enough to throw it enough out of phase with my Deluxe Reverb to thin out the tone but that's somehow not the case. I like running the Spark 2 as an AC30 on the edge of breakup with some chorus on the second output of my Strymon Volante along with my DRRI.
