Might have been a B25, similar era and vibe to these. No verb/teen though, which is the real selling point. Putting one of these in a V4 cabinet would be insanely rad.

It could've been an Ampeg Jupiter, which I believe was available as a head.

Just an update here...

Dragged the Gemini out yesterday afternoon, and after a year of it sitting in the basement, I forgot how GD heavy this thing is. Almost feels heavier than my Twin.

Sound wise, pretty good, but a little thin. More than likely the old speakers, which are pretty papery sounding. I suspect some decent Webers would be a huge improvement.

The bright inputs, especially channel 1, are very Fendery, and in a blind test I’d have a hard time differentiating between this and a low wattage Fender amp. Maybe a bit more present in the mids, but a great emulation of a surfy clean. Super surfy with my Jag.

The normal channels are quite the opposite. Definitely the aggressive side of this amp - thick, raggedy midrange growl reminicient of Gimmie Shelter/Let it Bleed, especially with the trem engaged. Gets a little mushy with the WRHB in my Tele Custom, suspect that’s the speakers though.

Definitely needs some tougher speakers, but overall a fantastic rock amp, definitely does the 60s stones thing, which makes sense given the association. Also a great choice for anyone wanting an interesting alternative to a Deluxe or Pro Reverb.

Saw Charalambides play a couple weeks ago and Tom was playing through one of these. I couldn't quite figure out what it was, but exactly as in the OP, blue lines and all. Was a fantastic sounding amp.

Those are crazy beasts! I had a VT-22 for a while and the cord while having three prongs was not actually grounded. You might want to check it out and make sure that model is, as I got bit by mine more than once.

Thought I'd chip in. I own a gv22 and love it. Also have a vt22. It feels about half the weight of the vt22. I loaded it with altec speakers and it's my best sounding amp. Tube driven tremolo and pitch shifting vibrato. Accutronics reverb. If you find one bit it

Awesome. I’m still loving mine too!

Love the tone, but honestly it’s way overkill for anywhere in NYC, so it mostly lives at the practice space as a “utility amp”. Sounds great, but could really use new speakers. Thinking something very neutral could work well with the middy bark this thing gives up when you crank it.

Enjoy your amp, love to see more Ampeg fans around here!
