I am looking for a new amp

Post by Michael Holtmann » Fri Apr 03, 2020 5:50 pm

I am in the market for a new amp I have narrowed it down to three amps. The Marshall Origin 20h or 50h or the Orange Crush Pro 120. Just so you can get a better idea of what I am doing, I am a emo(ish) punk rock musician who is in a Punk rock band, I also need something that can handle heavy fuzz sounds to normal distortion sounds, I say I base my sound off of Billie Joe Armstrong and Ray Toro, listen to a MCR song if you dont know Ray Toro.

Get the Origin 20. Both musicians you listed use Marshalls, and 20 watts is plenty of power with a good 212 cab.

Fender or Vox.. They come in all sizes & price points.. Both do everything extremely well. Not one trick ponies...

I own a couple of each & also a Marshall Half Stack...

i'm going to go with the origin 20 but i'm going to say hope marshall have fixed their reliability issues. the DSL and MG range were genuinely some of the most unreliable amps i've ever owned. i'm also going to say buy the head and go on FB marketplace to find a 2x12 or a 4x12. i dunno what the origin cabs have in them but you can probably find cabs with better speakers for the same price or even cheaper.

if you want a simple amp that is pretty loud and can get kinda snotty, i like the fender vaporizer and in the uk they can be found used for £150.
