True.

Here's some info that might help assist with this. This weekend I was watching the video below of the band Part Chimp going over their gear. They have a reputation for being loud as fuck. They're signed to Mogwai's Rock Action label (another band known for using insane volume) if that tells you anything. One of their guitarists here mentions that he used to use a High Watt and now uses the Quilter 200 tone block because it weighs almost nothing and is still louder than god. There's another video of them playing live from this same session and it seems like he's pretty damn loud. As someone who always worries about volume and plays in a loud af band myself I've been wanting to try one of these high volume Quilter's for a while and seeing this kinda settled it for me. Now it's just a matter of selling some gear to pay for it and seeing if all that's true.seenoevil II wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 12:00 pmQuestion. I've read conflicting reports about the loudness/ power of these amps.
Are these "solid state" watts or closer to "tube" watts?
So, my 120 watt SS amp is comparable to about 40 tube watts. And 30 SS watts is like 5 watt champ territory.
I've read where quilter means that 50 watts like the 101 means 50 watts and 200 means 200 (which would be insane).
I don't have technical data to back it up, but subjectively this thing is loud AF. I've played solid state 50ish watt stuff before (notably the old Princeton Chorus) that wasn't anywhere near this loud (notably with half the speakers). I'm a little bit scared of the 200 watt daddies.seenoevil II wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 12:00 pmQuestion. I've read conflicting reports about the loudness/ power of these amps.

Very true. Quilter will probably fare better than other non-tube amps (Especially modeling gear) but yeah, so far the resale market has pretty much proven that tubes remain desirable and the other stuff usually doesn't.
Quilter has a strong/cult following. They keep better resale value than a lot of other solid state amps. Not as desirable as a Roland JC-120 at this point, but certainly leagues ahead of Fender or Kustom or whatever other solid state amp.SAVEStheDAY wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 1:25 pmVery true. I get that, and I'm sure it's a decent amp. Sometimes you'll get a solid state amp that breaks through and remains popular, but mostly they are disposable once the next best thing comes out. Regardless of how rabid the fan base is a new and improved model 2.0 with more betterness will instantly make a ton of people ditch model 1.0. That doesn't really happen with tube amps, where the original models tend to hold their value, or even become more desirable.peterherman wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 1:29 pmQuilter has a strong/cult following. I was just playing mine, and I definitely still like it. But I've also not been able to bring myself to sell off my AC 10C1, so...
