The electrolytic filter caps are effectively a 'consumable' - they have a limited life span.

Better to replace them as preventative maintenance while the amp is healthy than have them leak out the magic electrical smoke(/explode and dump their electrolyte around the 'doghouse') and potentially damage other more costly components.

Sounds like you're well sorted for an in-house amp tech though :)

They were & still are built in Corona, Ca.. USA..

'91 wouldn't be considered in the same league as a vintage 60's or early '70's Silverface.. That said, they're still a great Amp but you shouldn't pay anywhere near 60's or early SF vintage Prices... If that's what they're asking you'd be better off buying a new one IMO....
