It is probably because of power and interference. My tube amps are a little noise. Even new ones. :)

Got the Mullard power tubes today. I did my first ever bias. According to the internets, EL34's should bias around 37. When I powered it up, my multimeter showed it to be about 39. super. did you try tweaking a bit hot or cold from 37 at idle, then play at volume? sometimes your ear can find some sustainable magic, without running too hot. it can be like ignition timing on an old car. set it to spec, and fine-tune it by ear!

I actually mostly left it where it was. I liked how it sounded, but tested it to make sure it was in the right range to not run the tubes too hot. :D It has a fan built into it to help cool the tubes also. It is a really cool amp. :D
