Me too! That's why I'm looking for a SF Deluxe Reverb...
next time i'm at my mates, im going to see if i can weld up a wee rolling stand for it and my 4x12.

also what genius at fender decided a 38kg amp only needs one handle?

One handle on top. Even if it weighed half as much, there's no way it would be easier to carry it by the handle.

I've often wondered if some countersunk grab handles on the sides would affect how the combo sounds.

Do the Vox-style two handles on the top edges -- a buddy had his Tweed Twin (don't remember which one exactly, but almost 50lbs of amp) done up like this and it actually worked pretty great considering that it still felt like lifting a Twin.

Late to the party here, but a tweed Tremolux or a brownface Princeton are pretty much my ideal amps.

Sadly, the originals aren't at all obtainable in terms of pricing.

That's funny, I have lots of 'dream guitars' for different reasons, like played by an artist I admire, or look especially great, or does a cool special thing, etc, but I never had that relationship with amps.

After my shitty Marshall MG30dfx I bought when I was 15, I bought a Vox AC4 more than ten years ago, sounds great but the quietest overdriven sound is already too loud for playing by yourself in an apartment and the loudest setting doesn't keep up with a drummer.
I rarely use it as at home : I play either unplugged or in my DAW with the bajillion possibilities of amp sims, and when I rehearse with other musicians I'm perfectly OK with the random basic loud amps of rehearsal spaces. And also the pocket-sized orange microcrush that lives on my bench has a nice little fun sound, especially on headphones.

To me amps are just heavy things that makes a guitar loud, not something to dream about. Maybe I haven't played a great one !

I'm okay with a range of amps, but there are just ones that sound better IME. Not necessarily vintage, or that all amps of the same desirable year/model will be good, but there's feature sets and general sounds which work better than other for the stuff I do.

I will say I'd much rather have a vintage amp than a vintage guitar though.

I`m realy tempted to get a Fender Princeton Reverb 65 reissue to replace my Fender deluxe 85 (red knob) but can`t really justify the high purchase price to myself.

i really fancy the 68 custom princetons. lovely little portable package and good crunchy sounds. the one i've tried has a bit of a wimpy reverb though, don't know if the 65 RIs are splashier.

I really really loved the 1968 Twin Reverb I had with EV12L speakers, just a wall of warm 3D clean. So, a dream amp would be that sound in something I could actually lift. (It lost much of the magic when I switched to Jensen Neo 12s, but was still nice). My Princeton Reverb (w/JBL) has much of that sound, but without the visceral physicality (and the JBL e110 is a bit bright).

I periodically have some dalliance with amps other than Fenders but always come back to some Fender or other for the sound that's in my head.

Very happy with my SF Super Reverb and SF Princeton Reverb, which I've had now for 12 and 6 years or so, respectively.

I've noticed that the early SF amps are WAY lighter than the later ones. All will run forever.
