Why would anyone rehouse a head into a combo?!

Still could be a great deal regardless. Does he have pics of the inside?

I have done it with an old bass amp head for home use. I don't think I would deface an old Bandmaster to do that, but it likely sounds and functions fine, IF it is done right.

bandmasters rule. if you want a head cab again, they'll run at most $400 to have one made. would ask for some inside shots and make sure nothing was heavily modded. bonus for original transformers still in the amp. you can still find them for around $500 unmolested (silverface non reverb head). for whatever reason people don't jump on those. so it's up to you.

starcrunch from man or astroman has been touring a silverface bandmaster reverb head lately and his tone is always exceptional.

This just solves my specific problems the best way. I'm definitely gonna get some more t00bz in the futeur. But this works right now.

I'm leaning towards a single 15" in homemade cabinet.

i was about to say, man - you are all over the place with options - but that Quilter looks like you may have nailed your target. i know little about that specific model, but have had a couple of good experiences with their combos . i'm excited to hear about how this work out for you, yay or nay!

You might like it. In the past few years I've played quite few gigs with a '65 Bandmaster head on a same year Tremolux 2x10 cabinet. I love this set because to me it's the perfect compromise of portability, ability to tilt it for limited space, great volume range, lively sound even at low levels etc.
I eventually found a Tremolux head which is very similar to the BM apart from added compression from its tube rectification but at higher levels I prefer the tighter low end response of the BM.

I had the OP's problem and i found an old Peavey Heritage for £250. A lot of amp for the money and gets a good range of tones. With some pedals you're laughing. Built like a tank as well, original valves and no problems. Only slight downside is weight but i put casters on it. Plenty of bass on tap with the EQ.
Its loud rated at 130 watts but it has a switch to step down to 30 and the pre and post controls make it easy to keep at a neighbour friendly volume.
Maybe not that model specifically but they made many well built amps in the 80s of various wattage that can be found now for a steal.

if you don't want to go the route of putting casters on the amp, b&q does these plant pot movers called diall dolly's. we got 2 of them. one is called brody and one of them is called salvador

The BEST amp for a Jazzmaster is the Fender Princeton Chris Stapleton!!!!I own quite a few amps: 1966-1971 Fender Princeton Reverbs, a 1967 Fender Super Reverb, 55 Tweed Deluxe on the Fender side and seriously my 62 Jazzmaster really is a heavenly made match with this New custom shop amp which I bought a year ago because I dug the brownface look and the originals are too steeply priced, mind you I have Vintage Prevs. The 12” Speaker really suits the amp, giving it a beautiful muscular headroom with the Jazzmaster. I did not know Chris Stapleton, but after I purchased the amp, I looked him up and lo and behold, he has a JM too.

I’m sure that Stapleton Princeton sounds excellent, but it’s hella pricey. You could buy an original pre-cbs bandmaster with cab for that money and leave several hundreds in your wallet. I don’t understand why anyone would choose the former over the latter.

Simple. I own quite a few vintage amps. They are great but require regular service and the new Princeton is hands down as good as any vintage amp, but less service intensive. That is why I am a bit disinclined to acquiring more.

If I was a gigging musician I would have rehoused my Bandmaster Reverb as a 2x12 combo. The head is so huge, a 2x12 combo wouldn't be much bigger. Of course I would keep the original head cabinet so its reversible.
