First guitar/amp play day in 12 months

James came over yesterday, the first time since the COVID started.
James has been working on another of his amp designs, this one with some "Princeton Reverb" love thrown.

So we had a bit of a shoot out with my 66 PR (that had real scratchy volume and treble pots … I haven't played it in 4 or 5 years) and some of my designs. Great fun day. You can see James' rough build in the chassis on the RHS table

Two of OSG's finest. Glad you guys are enjoying yourselves with some fine diy amplification. :-*

A roomful of greats amps, a couple of guitars and good company - my idea of heaven right there. I'm such a VibroChamp fanboy that my eye went straight to that, but I'd still want to play through all of those beauties at once. Great to see the Lance prototype on the table as well. Who won the PR shootout, by the way?

The PR is 66, the VC is 68, the rest are my builds from the past 10 years (green and white)

While on the subject of the VC, a few weeks back my guitarist and I did some recordings using the VC amp section and running it into that white open back cab you can see in the photo which has 2 x Jensen C8Rs (the same 8" Jensens that sometimes went into the VC) both 1964 builds … sounded like (loud) VC heaven. Now don't get me wrong, the 8" Oxford that is in the VC also sounds perfect but just having the two 8" speakers in a larger cab just notched it up a level or two.

I'm guessing it's sporting a pair of his Wide Range Mini Humbuckers, which I endorse as an excellent choice. ;D

Late to the party!

How lucky am I to be able to not only workshop amp design with sookwinder, but also to benchmark the design with his OG amps and improved builds?

The JM is a parts build - Allparts neck bought from OSGer Cross Guitars, body from Guitar Mill, paint is Duplicolor rattle can "Inca Silver". Duplicolor rattle can clear on top. Came out with a lot of blue in the silver, so definitely in the ^ Firemist Silver/Ice Blue Metalic/Pelham Blue zone. Really happy with the colour. Mastery trem and bridge. Another feature of this JM is how light it is - the body is ultralight swamp ash, and raw it was 2 lb 10 oz! Haven't weighed it, but I guess the finished guitar is ~ 6.5 -7 lb.

HorseyBoy - yes indeed, pickups are the prototype JM Wide Range Mini Humbuckers :) Hope you're digging yours!

Awesome, thanks for the info on your JM. Love that the neck came via Pat and you made the pickups.

Speaking of those pickups, they look like standard JM pups. Do you have any pics of what they look like under the covers? I tried to search your threads for the last few years but didn't find anything.

Also, I'm jealous that you folks in the Southern hemisphere get to wear shorts and sandals right now.
