Suck Knob
Who here has experience with a Suck Knob? There are loads of 'em on eBay for $20 and they seem like the would be pretty cool, supposing they worked like they say they do. If I got myself a new JCM900 I think I would get one of these babies to use its full potential...

I can understand that a "musician" lures himself into thinking he's great, and makes a fool of himself. After all, one is the worst person to honestly judge oneself.luau wrote:

But for christ's sakes this is a band ... I don't get how a member of this hasn't stopped in the middle of a song and told the others "We suck too much, I quit; the band and probably music altogether. We're probably making the worst music ever. Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna get drunk."
Anyway, back to the topic.

I like it, actually! It's like a country-metal band possessed by the band spirit of the Birthday Party!

The singer is the one who gets them up to an 11 on the suck-age scale.Orang Goreng wrote: I like it, actually! It's like a country-metal band possessed by the band spirit of the Birthday Party!

Yeah, I got one of the ones for guitar and put it in my Jazzmaster. They don't work like they say they do. I turned it all the way up and my guitar still sounded amazing. I took it out.5L1V3R wrote: Who here has experience with a Suck Knob? There are loads of 'em on eBay for $20 and they seem like the would be pretty cool, supposing they worked like they say they do.

Re: Suck Knob
I actually ordered all the parts to build one from Small Bear. It was dirt cheap. Everything is all mocked up and ready to go - I just need to solder it together (first time - gulp!5L1V3R wrote: Who here has experience with a Suck Knob? Here's the schematic I used. From what i understand, they're all pretty much the same and cost under $10 to make.

I doubt you're gonna have much use for it on a JCM900...you can just turn the master volume down, not?

I would use it to get overdriven tones without turning the volume up to 10.Orang Goreng wrote:Yeah, it almost "silverfaces" that amp in the linkJazzBlaster wrote: Hey I got one of those, it basicaly just works like a master Vol. Was nice to have with the hotrod in my apartment tho..

Re: Suck Knob
But the 900 already has a master volume so you can get overdrive tones by turning the [preamp] volume up to 10 no?
