Should I Trade my 68' Princeton Reverb for a 68' Super Reverb?
They are both Blacklined Drip edge, the super doesn't have original speakers but my Princeton doesn't have one of the original Transformers. I already have a Champ rebuilt to be a Tweed Champ by Skip Simmons and it has a bigger Cab and a 10" speakers so my recording/practice amp thing is taken care of, but I also have a 68' Bassman and a 2x12 Cab for my loud amp.

Yes, if it's an even up trade you'd be doing very well.
Besides the value factor, only you can determine if a small portable tube amp or a large behemoth of a tube amp better fits your needs.

DO IT! Princetons are cool, but a Super would be the tits.

hmm that's not an easy one.
i LOVE and adore Super Reverbs (got a '65 here) but the only "but" it the size/weight. the sound is unbelieveable, but sometimes i wished it was a 2x10 with an optional take-along extra 2x10
now that's up to you. i seriously don't know what I'd do here.
listen to your heart... i mean, EARS. heh heh
...i'm sure this post will help A LOT, eh? (sorry)

Now isn't THAT the truth. I've owned exactly one super reverb and one twin reverb, and sold both for the same reason. Just. Too. Big.Pacafeliz wrote: but sometimes i wished it was a 2x10 with an optional take-along extra 2x10![]()
If I ever found a blackface vibrolux with a dead output transformer for cheap, I'd get it and get Mercury Magnetics to make me an output transformer with multiple impedance taps so I could either use the onboard speakers or have a matching 2x10, and could switch the impedance depending on whether I had the extension cab or not so it's always got the optimum load.
That is, I'd do that if I ever had the need for big amps anymore, which I really don't.

well we COULD make a Super Reverb head version... but had to be careful with that impedance. 2ohms... it can take 4ohms... but if someone tries to hook it up with a 16ohmer, bad things could happen...

Re: Should I Trade my 68' Princeton Reverb for a 68' Super Reverb?
My issue is really that I have 2 large amps and one small amp, I'm thinking the super because I could use it on organ or something if I needed, I tried the bassman as a bass amp but it didn't work so hot. Although I did just get a Novak CC P bass pickup so maybe that will make a difference, then for SURE it's the super. Damn Princeton sounds so good though.

Isn't that the idea of the Allen Old Flame? I (stupidly) passed on up at a pawn shop last year and have regretted it since.Pacafeliz wrote: hmm that's not an easy one.
