Amp question

I have been really looking at amps and I am not sure what to get.

The ones I am considering are a super reverb, twin reverb, hot rod deluxe (and blues jr)

So my question, How much louder are the first 3 than the blues junior. I want to get something that will last and be loud enough. (And cheap enough haha)

I think it depends a lot on where you play, if you play at home, a twin or a super would be overkill, IMO...way too loud to get going, really

the Hot Rod would probably be too loud as well, but still playable

(you see, I find that tube amps sound their best at around 4 onwards)

I think that if you want that fender reverb sound, you should go for either a Deluxe Reverb, or a Vibrolux Reverb

they should work well enough at home and at gigs. :)

The Blues Jr will get plenty loud, but it won't be clean.

If you're looking for loud and clean, the Twin or Super should work very well.  If you're looking for some breakup, I'd go with the Hot Rod.  Or, as Yannis said, you could go with a Deluxe Reverb.  :-*

I just bought a DR and I could not be a bit happier.  It is everything I was looking for in an amp.  Great reverb, great vibrato, good clean sound and it can get gnarly if you want it to.  :-* :-* :-*

Thanks for the responses, Good feedback. How about a Vox AC30? I have also had my eye on those bad boys.

Price break between a HR Deluxe and a Super Reverb Reissue is about half. Maybe you should head down to the local music store (with YOUR guitar, and key effects pedals) plug in and see what suits YOU. An AC30 doesn't sound like a Super Reverb doesn't sound like a HR Deluxe doesn't sound like a Blues Jr doesn't sound like a ...

Ive heard different stories about the AC30 Re-Issues... that was one amp I wanted to buy as well.

I ended up buying a hotrod though, and I really dont regret the choice. Has two Overdrives, Reverb, and is a really clean amp. Ive gigged with it and I find it better then bringing a cab and head. My only suggestion is you try and buy the best one to what you can afford, because I could have bought a 2X12 DeVille then the 1X12 for almost 100$ more.

The AC30's are awesome, especially with the Alnico Blues speakers, they are totally worth the extra money.  They are made in China now though instead of England.

Enough reason for me not to buy one.  :-\

Come on, $1000+ for an amp made in China?  I'd buy a Mexican Fender any day before I'd buy that.  Peavey's Valve King series is Made in China, too.....But they're like $400-$600, and they sound good.

My bandmate has an AC30 CC model, and it doesn't impress me.  Of course, it could be his playing.  ::)

Yeah, the England ones go for tons of money on ebay now, our guitarist has 2 made in china models and they sound great though, we tour with them and they are solid.  The blue speakers really make a huge difference.   I'd think that it wouldn't make that big of a difference being assembled in China.  Many high end electronics are assembled in China, I guess the downside would be that maybe there's not as much quality control.
