which 'vibrato' circuit on those? is it power tube-bias tremolo? or the Harmonic Vibrato of the time?
my Vibrasonic has the HV.
Thanks! :)

6G7-A w/ 5 triode harmonic tremolo. Here's an Uncle Doug discusssing a '63 and the different types. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFSbGG7R3WY
how cool is that, you have the 'Harmonic Vibrato' circuit in a handy head unit!

mine is attached to a big old 15" combo cabinet... harder to carry, but it's the old JBL and it's great, i use it with my '57 Fender steel.

i've had it for 35 years, and my mates still freak out over that chewy phasey tremolo!

man, i love Uncle Doug. i've never cared about YT celebrities, but just realized that he's my YT hero.
and he wouldn't like it if i thought of him as my 'celebrity'. still, i would enjoy going to visit him or stalking him like a celebrity. good thing he lives in Texas, cuz i rarely make that drive anymore. still, i would do it if invited.

i remember that video, back when we were mostly staying at home. he got me back on track with my amp maintenance, which is serving me well now that we're gigging again.

"Bad"?? i was just thinking, 'how could this pursuit have anything remotely bad about it'?
Mostly bad for my wallet and the ever shrinking space in my house for such things.

i look at pictures of our studio from ten years ago, and there's space for twice as many people than there is now! it's mostly amps, and now keyboards and DJ gear are in the mix, too. still, rescuing a Fender head unit of any sort is still on the table. or should i say, on the top of one of our cabs, even if we have to stack 'em! but when studio rent gets tight, i can sell the bulkier and lesser-used items to cover rent.

regarding Wallet, well, i like to think of it as an 'idiot's savings account'. most of the old amps i've picked up are worth double what i paid back when. even if they're not 100% functional. and buying anything old that says Fender on it is kind of like putting your money in gold, it seems.

i guess it's time to go have a peek at the 'Wanted' section :D

I've owned a bunch of SF Bassman heads over the years but always just kinda wanted a BF. Fell into a beat looking but solid '66 before falling into a pristine looking but gutted '66. I've passed up 2 more '66 Bassman heads since then. I would like a BF Showman or Tremolux though, there is a project Tremolux chassis for sale on Reverb and I keep hemming and hawing at it.

The blonde head with replaced transformer is calling me. I won't. But I want to.

Turns out the decision to put my '63 Band-Master in my new brown tolex head shell has been made easier as the blonde tolex on the original '63 Band-Master shell is a (not so great) re-tolex job. The re-tolexer used sub-par glue as the glue is coming up in various places as well as some poor measurements and incorrect angle cuts. Some day, I'll take on re-tolexing it myself.

Yesterday, I installed my 2x12" Jensen NK-12 Neodymium speakers into the Armadillo Amp Works brown tolex 2x12 extension cab. Here's a video: https://youtu.be/HVg4z7mhCws

Today I removed the chassis and put it into my Armadillo Amp Works brown tolex shell. I secured away the original shell in a safe and dry location.

Video is currently HD processing but the link should have HD in a while (80 minutes or so). https://youtu.be/qdo7apGGsmw

Someone asked a while back to show all my amps...not all together but along with the Showman and '63 Band-Master, here ya go:
