The clean channel tskes pedals like a champ. The dirty channel is kinda meh... A bit noisy, but have only played it for about 4 minutes total. Will properly test later tonight.

I do need to get an 8 ohm speaker though... I may have some NOS tubes for it too. I'll check.

Never realized how much of a difference can different tubes make. I mean, I knew, but I think this circuit makes it more noticeable.

The original tubes make it sound dull. This old RCA just sings, with a lot less noise too. Also added a vintage Rogers in the preamp section.

Tubes make a huge difference, especially in smaller amps. My Wangs 5W turned into a monster after I pout some NOS tubes in it.

Nice! I love Hiwatts and have eyed those Hi-5's up from time to time. Seems a bit silly to have an OD channel on a 5 watt amp though, doesn't it?

The OD channel sounds great, crank the gain to about 8, keep the volume at around 2-3, and i get awesome chrunch

When i crank the volume on the od channel, it sounds kinda meh though...

I really like this amp. Im very happy with it. My traditional Jag sounds fantastic through it.

cool! what were the original tubes? tbh I don't care that much for old tubes these days as they are really old now haha. The quality of new tubes is very spotty. I've opened up brand new boxes and have found white fog at the top

I'm restoring a poor Hiwatt SE4122 cab that someone stripped, painted and replaced the grillcloth with wire mesh. Maybe this should go in the "what did you do to me?" thread.
