Fender Blues Junior Relic On The Way!! Edit- just posted pics

I just ordered it today from Fender, it has the 12" Jensen in it like the NOS version. I couldn't get a NOS direct from Fender, they are a Guitar Center/ Musician's Friend exclusive. Does anyone know if this amp is custom shop?  I thought all relics were Custom Shop, but correct me if I'm wrong on that.  That would be way cool if it was hand wired and everything.  Anyone have one of these?

Edit:  I did some more research on these and found some more info.  The Relic version has a 25 watt Jensen P12R whereas the NOS version has a 50 watt C12N.  Does this mean that the P12R will break up easier than the C12N because it is lower wattage?  They also have upgraded Groove Tube EL84's instead of Sovtek ones.  I don't know if it's Custom Shop, I'd think it would be a lot more money if it was, I got it for $400 from Fender.

Yeah, I'm not too hot on relicing in general, even on guitars, but it was the only way I could get the Jensen speaker from Fender.  hansonparry- I don't have a link, it's not on Fender's website or any stores, it was a limited run for Guitar Center I think.

Here's a Japanese page with some decent photos so you can at least get a sense of what it looks like.

LOL - that's awesome!
Thinking back the "fancy lads" thread...
imagine showing up to a practice or gig and another guitar player has the same amp with the same drink stain in the same spot?!?!?

??? :-[ >:(

LOL!

Priceless.

Thanks for the pics, the drink stain is a bit over the top, but I've read good things about the P12R speaker, so I am excited.  I'll post some pics of mine when I get it to see how similar it is to the one above.

I'll install a drink stain in any amp for a nominal fee, if anyone's looking.  :D

My Blues Deluxe has a coffee ring on the top of it from when I put a mug down on top of it once  :-[

someone nearly spilt a pint of Buckfast over it once too - that would have been bad...  :k

It's not a CS amp -- it's made in Mexico. Nonetheless, the NOS is a superb amp and I imagine the relic version may be better with the P12R. The pre-fab drink stain on the relic is a bit too OTT for me, though  ::)

400 USD is a good price b/c the NOS sells for 529 USD at MF and 599 USD at GC.

Yeah, I thought they'd put them on different spots on every amp, but I saw one in a shop yesterday and it was in pretty much the same place. ://

Yep, I got mine today and the drink stain is in about the same location, although it's bit more faded than the one pictured above.  Pretty ridiculous, there's even a small tear in the speaker screen, which is just dumb, but it sounds awesome!  I couldn't get the NOS version straight from Fender (it's a GC exclusive), but I got this one for 400 dollars, so it was worth it for me to deal with the relicing (I don't really even like reliced guitars).

It came with a Jensen C12N speaker instead of a P12R, and it sounds great, my brother in law has a standard Blues Jr, and I A/B'd to mine, you can totally hear an improvement with the Jensen speaker.  I have also heard bad things about the P12R version, it is a 25W speaker instead of 50W, and is harder to get  a good warm clean tone on, apparently it gets pretty dirty quickly.  I'll post pics and thoughts soon, I need a few more days with it, but so far I am really loving it!

I've had a few days with it and am really happy with it.  The Jensen speaker keeps it clean at a pretty loud volume, but if you crank the preamp volume and hit the fat switch you get some nice natural distortion.  I also like the reverb on it, there isn't too much hiss even when it's cranked.  I think it's hilarious that all the levels go to 12, it's like spinal tap only better!  This thing is loud, I don't run it much over 3 on the master volume with the preamp volume at 5 or so.  It also takes pedals really well, my Fuzz Factory sounds better through this than it did through my Fender Twin I sold, it has a lot more life.

I'm really happy with the C12N speaker, I'm glad I got that instead of the P12R after reading up on both models.  The C12N is fuller and a bit brighter than the stock Blues Jr Eminence, and stays clean longer too.  The relicing is kinda cool, it looks like an old amp rather than a new amp made to look old, but the drink stain and tear in the speaker cover are totally lame and unnecessary.  Overall, this amp is great for what I need it for, and I'm excited to start recording it soon.  Here are some pics:
