I used one of these for a front loading, closed-back 15 inch bass cab. It worked fine. I am assuming that you could find one for a 12-inch speaker.

The front of the speaker frame will have a gasket, usually—either cork or foam or cardboard, usually

You want something like that on the rear if using the rear as the mating surface
