Hard to say without knowing what sort of sound you want to get?

I love my old Vibrolux Reverbs but the new production VR is not really a reissue, more a sort of "influenced by".

yeah, what exactly are you looking to do with it?

The new AC30CC models are really versatile and can  cover a lot of ground. So without knowing any details, I'd recommend one of those. I picked up one a while back and am  real happy with it. I had high expectations for it, but it has met and exceeded them all  :)

Leaving aside the new VRs ('cos I don't really know too much about them) I'd probably pick the AC30 over the Bassman RI.

I'm assuming you mean the 4x10" tweed Bassman RI .. I think the AC30 would probably sound more funky clean than a tweed. Either would rock pretty well I reckon.

If you're more funk than rock, you might want to consider a Fender blackface/silverface sound .. you could probably find an old silverface for not much more than a new VR. The bigger ones like Twins and Pros tend to go cheaper and they would have the headroom you'd need for a loud clean James Brown-style funk.

Having said all that, since the three models you picked are all currently available you should be able to find a store that has them in stock .. take your guitar down and try them out!

Nothing embarrassing about funk .. easy to learn but incredibly hard to play well.

There's nothing like a proper old-school funk band really locked into a groove.
