Nice score!

I was playing in a bar up north tonight where they only had a vocal PA - I had my 40W blues deluxe on about 3, and about 3 songs in I was told to turn it down because people couldn't even order at the bar as it was so loud.

I felt like my job for the night was done :)

thanks Pumpkin!  :D

the volume box is nice, doesn't kill your tone as mutch as a master volume and you can get mutch better tones at mutch lower volume. (11pm in my apartment)

Nice amp!!  I have the Deluxe (40 watt 12").  I love it.  It's great for small gigs, and is loud as hell.  It just breaks up too early for my taste in a bigger venue.  I never have to turn it past 2.5 on the clean channel,  and 2 on the drive channels.  Plus, it is waaaaaay lighter than my twin!

yeah, I think I am going to try some mods to get some more headroom out of it. I need loud and clean, I wanted a twin reverb but couldn't find one I could afford. I am going to try a 5751 in the preamp and see what that sounds like.

Re: My new old Deville (now with 12AY7)

I picked up a 12AY7 tube form the shop down the street, it's amazing how mutch a difference it has made.  The amount of headroom is insane now I can put it on 12 and it doesn't distort on the clean. The chanel is inmesuarably tamer now to. This should prove interesting to see how different preamp tubes sound in this amp, it has so far.

I moved the AY7 from V1 to V2 the in conjunction with the AX7 in V1 the sound is similar to stock but a little smoother. Especialy on the gain side of things alot smoother and easier to control. I'd still like to try a 5751 in V1 as it is the next step down in gain from an AX7.

I would urge anyone to try different tubes in these amps. There are tons of different preamp tubes to choose from and they really change the available tones.

not my amp, it's from that website, just used that to illustrate what I was talking about. I am looking at ordering a few different tubes, experimenting and posting my findings. If I had my way it would be outfited with Celestion Golds but alas I am a poor man and had to sell my Jaguar to get this amp. But I am meeting with another guitarist on Friday. If I can play some shows again it will all be worth it.
