my bandmate is considering selling his ridiculously clean bassman rig to replace it with something he could feel a bit more comfortable gigging with (and of course make a bit of profit in the process). anyone have an idea of how much he could ask for it? i haven't checked which year it is, but IIRC the serial is close to the one i used to have, so it's somewhere around '65-'66. it's completely original, and as i said, very very clean.
i looked up completed listings on ebay, but since US pricing is usually a lot lower than swedish, i'd like to get some opinions from people in europe, preferrably in the UK (where prices seem to be just as high as over here.)

if it is ridiculously clean with a matching 2x12 cab, and considering that the Bassman is the most desirable blackface head, I'd expect the set to be £1k...possibly more on a good day on ebay
in a shop, I do't even dare to think how much they's ask for!!

I've been watching BF Bassman heads quite a lot lately .. as far as US pricing goes they seem to be a lot of amp for the money as the head alone goes for about $500 to $750 depending on condition and FEIC/FMC etc .. but anyway, I'd say Yannis is about right for EU pricing, maybe just a little high, I might consider paying £800? .. maybe offer it at £1000 and see how it goes.
Of course, on Denmark St a head and cab in good nick would probably go for £2500 ..

If one was looking to buy, I reckon the most economical way to do it would be to buy a head from the US and source the cab and speakers locally.

I sold a REALLY clean '65 Bassman head a while back. It even had the original Victoria cover and everything. It sounded really, really great, but I just wasn't using it enough.
I didn't want to pop in just to say what I sold it for though, since it stayed in the States, so that won't do much good as a measuring stick. But since I'm here anyway... I think I paid $350 or so for it and I sold it for$650 about a year ago.
