good solid state bass head
hi guys
so ive been scopin the market and pawns for a bass head.
i've heard the ampeg v4-b and i think it sounds amazing but i've lost about 2 diffrent auctions on ebay.
i found a peavey 4 00 series bass head and i was wondering what you guys think about it.
if you know some other really good but not so pricey bass heads if you guy can throw your knowledge my way.

I'm honestly very impressed with the Behringer BX4500H. They are a great sounding head for $259.00.

I know Behringer gets kicked around a lot, and their guitar amps aren't so good, but these are cool! My band uses their PA stuff almost exclusively, and it has performed well.

I've had a couple GK800rb heads - very clean and sharp, lots of tone control, 400 watts (300+100 bi-amp-able). I think you can get them used for ~$300 US

I don't know if you can find one where you are but I suggest Mark Bass

Actually a lot of pro's are using it..it's a little monster.

The old Peavey stuff is easy to find in pawn shops - good workhorse stuff.

MarkBass Little Mark II amps are indeed brilliant. I have one too, and it's loud, clean sounding, and very light. I couldn't ask for more. They're not that expensive either.

I have one of those Peavey 400 Series head right here. It's one of them with a distortion channel.FruitySquirts wrote: the top picture is the one that is currently at the pawn shop.

It's as tough, heavy and loud an amp as it can get. I usually have it plugged into its original 2 X15'' cabinet and it's house-shaking loud.
They usually go for quite cheap.

Re: good solid state bass head
a practice room that I used to use had one of these into an Ashdown 1x15 cabinet, and I liked the sounds I got out of it - you can drive the preamp really hard and it still sounds good, which is nice.RumorsOFsurF wrote: I'm honestly very impressed with the Behringer BX4500H. Check out the Ashdown amps, they are great.

Re: good solid state bass head
We've got one of those Behringers at school and I have to say, they're complete shit. We've also got a Peavey, Mark III or IV (I'm not really shure (that rimed!) and that's a nice, clear head. Alright distortion as well.
