Reviews around the web are 50-50. People either hate or love it (as always).
I didnt play it yet but but from reading reviews the main problems or misexpectations are:

People expect an high-gain metal amp.
People expect an higher gain jcm800 type of amp.
People expect fat tone at low volume

On the other side it seems to be not that similar to a plexi either.

Anyone here tried them out?

I have an 18w Marshall clone that just rocks with my Sherwood JM.

it's like the same stuff you get with the distortion channel of a fender hot rod (hope i won't get killed for saying this!)... one setting is perfect and with 20 others it sounds like crap. grab your (!) guitar and search a shop that sells it... ask for several boxes, though i heard the VM 4x12" boxes are good enough, it's always nice to compare it with others. And no, you won't get a high-gain metal amp - but you can let it sound like an fat boy if you make such kind of setting on the amp and on the guitar.

i just think people dont know what they want lol
personaly my style is more 70s heavy rock crap so vintage style amps suit me well
i really dont go for modern style amps with extra crap like "master volume" or "gain" or even "digital effects"
i mean thats why god created legs so you can stomp down on your pedals thats where i get most of my sounds from
but thats how i feel

marshall vintage style amps i really like
there not even close to any modern metal sounds by themselfs but put in a big muff full blast and pow your there

and one thing you have to remeber is all amps will sound sightly different from each other even if there the same product
so one super lead will sound different from another
but ive heard that the handwired series sound like they should

From the review I've read on GP I think they are very good, vintage stays for the sound and modern is there only for their construction process..I think the most interesting thing is that they sport kt66 power tubes..and they're known to add that fuzzness in the sound that remeber the classic brit blues-rock bands..

it's a shame they didn't give them the vintage look though. i'd be much more interested in buying one if it looked like a plexi.

OK..I can take a hint. No Marshall 18 watts.    It does sound good though

I like Marshalls... I used to have a DSL100, JTM45, 1959SLP, and now I have a JCM2000 DSL50, which will be the amp for the rest of my life... I hope so! 

I tried the Vintage Modern a few days ago and was impressed... great sound, classic high-quality Marshall as expected - I even took a Les Paul and got into some Led Zeppelin riffing...    But with my Jaguars & the Bass VI, I prefer the DSL50 - the sound is not that much different, and it is more flexible with the second channel.

But if you're into the classic plexi sound, try this one out! I loved my 1959SLP, but it was always too loud, even with two EL34s removed AND a powerbrake. The Vintage Modern is an amazing amp, it sounded good at any volume!
