I value the amplifier opinions of any man who uses a Fender Super Six as a home practice amp ..
I'm glad that I wasn't drinking anything when I read that reply!
Well, it all starts with a little company in Cambridge, England...
Seriously - I have been thinking about cobbling together a page with details and a bit of history of these amps. There were several famous users - Pink Floyd used them in the Live at Pompeii tour (though I'm not a huge Floyd fan, they're the kind of band that makes people at least pay attention when talking about transistor amps), Daniel Ash (I'm a big fan of his) used them, Marc Bolan (T-Rex) as well, and some other bands here and there (The Vapors, The Wedding Present amongst others). I was initially drawn to them because of their appearance - they have a perspex (plexiglass) control panel that is illuminated when it's on. Being a UK brand, they made much more of an impression in Europe than in the US.
I have several of their guitar heads which I've picked up very cheaply on eBay (German & UK), a bass head, and a bass combo. I just need to start writing up a bit on them so that I can get them into some kind of order for a webpage. I really just want to make it a resource for people who find them in their band practice rooms or in their closets and don't know where they fit into the musical puzzle.
