What are your ‘desert island’ guitar effects
For some inexplicable reason you’re heading to a desert island.
The island conveniently has a reliable power supply, and an amp (with no built-in effects) and your fave guitar are waiting there for you, which is pretty weird, right?
However, you ate too many pies for lunch, so the plane taking you to the island can only carry a maximum of two effect pedals….what are they?
No multi-effects units l
Edit: added comment about amp not having effects built-in

Red Llama and a Space, that should get me pretty far.

Give me a Superfuzz, a Big Muff and an eventide space or SA Ventris, and I’ll never be bored. If you’d let me have a phaser, I’d love you forever.......

Big Muff and a DM-2
Pretty much all I use anyway, aside from a tuner and OD to boost the Muff

Fuzz and a Reverb I could be happy with. Maybe I could learn to use my volume knob in place of a boost pedal.

Tonebender and a DMM would do the trick. Could get chorusy sounds out of the DMM as a cheeky bonus.

Space would be cheating its almost a multi-fx unit.
Loop loop loop.
What better than to layer and jam with yourself, and the ability to make soundonsound textures is one of the most versatile effects.
Then i suppose delay. Which technically could often appear with a looper on a single pedal most of the time...
And im fine with amp distortion i'll assume thats good.

Re: What are your ‘desert island’ guitar effects
I'm gonna cheat. I'd have my PR, so reverb and tremolo are included automatically. Beyond that I'd say an FC Barbershop, and an EHX Hazarai, since it's both a delay and a looper (I'm generally not much of a looper guy, but if I'm on a desert island I'd need something to keep me occupied).
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Re: What are your ‘desert island’ guitar effects
What amp do I have to play them through?
If I get to bring my Axe FX III, I'm good. The only pedal I need is the footswitch/controller
If I've got a tube amp - which one? Overdrive/distortion and reverb would be my two choices if I was stuck with a clean and dry amp, but if it's an amp that has those, then I'd go with a delay/looper and an octave pedal, so that I can lay down basslines and play over them. Would help stave off the inevitable insanity and volleyball conversations for a while.

I would say that a Space almost qualifies as a multi effect, but what if I told you it can do Phaser effects?CorporateDisguise wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 1:57 amGive me a Superfuzz, a Big Muff and an eventide space or SA Ventris, and I’ll never be bored. Well, I think it could? It can definitely do flanger and chorus with the ModEchoReverb algorithm. Probably would not sound like an MXR 90, but you could get some comb filtering going on with reverb.

Re: What are your ‘desert island’ guitar effects
I would place Echo, Fuzz, Reverb and Tremolo as my favorite effects, probably in that order. My AC-30 has Tremolo, so I would just need a nice delay pedal and a fuzz that cleans up a bit.
Deluxe Memory Man and a Tonebender sound heavenly into a Vox amp. I’d go with a Sola Sound Mk-4 on the Tonebender as it covers a lot of sonic ground. A DMM into a Vox and you really don’t need reverb. Maybe this island has a cave and then a reverb pedal definitely isn’t necessary!

OD & Compressor -- get me some good flexible ones (i.e. Wampler Dual Fusion or Ceriatione Horsebreaker and something like an Empress compressor) and I'm pretty set for all the tones I could reasonably ask for. Not a huge effecty-effect kinda guy: I use them decently often because they're there, but I could make do without if I had to.

I went with reverb and tremolo, but probably overdrive wouldn’t supersede the trem. Gimme a Flint and, I dunno, a Carcosa and that probably covered my bases there.

I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?
