Crazy long shot: Does anyone know where I can get this tiny part?

Post by zhivago » Thu Jul 11, 2024 6:52 am

So a while ago I bought a used Maxon AD900, as I opened the box, one of the knobs fell off...turns out the brass screw that fastens it to the pot was gone. :fp:

Does anyone know if I can buy these tiny screws from somewhere in the UK?

I have found some knobs that look almost the same, but they are not exact to the Maxon ones (and ever so slightly wider - the Maxons are about 23mm), and I'd like to keep the pedal original.

Here's some closeups of my Maxon knob...

...I know, total longshot...but I thought it's worth a try before buying three new knobs (so they at least all match) and pay £6 shipping for them. :fp:

Is it just the grub screw that is missing? It is probably a metric size in a Japanese pedal. Would one of these fit? - Amazon grub screw set

Hey thanks guys, I will investigate further, yes it is a tiny grub screw...I tried even spare telecaster saddle spares screws and couldn't get them to fit.

I think that Amazon screw set might be a good bet, and at least I will find some use of the rest of them down the line. :)

If not you could try plumbers tape until you get a fix. I used that for a vintage tone control that had stripped grooves so it spun around the pot shaft.
