Regarding Roland, muche better their strategy about what they give to users. With ACB and ZENcore they give an enormous flexibility to their offerings. And they sound much better that the "genuine analog" B-ripoffs.

Well you know, sound is subjective. My studio is full of vintage synths and I don’t own any Behringer gear. I’ve got a ‘74 minimoog and a ‘73 2600 here. I bought the Boog Model D a year after it came out just for fun. In fact, at my old job we were sent one to try just before it came out and we compared it to a few vintage minimoogs in a professional studio environment. Did it sound the same? Not really but it sounded really good and definitely sounded analog. It sounded wayyy better and closer than we expected.

It sounded better than the Voyager but not better than the Sub Phatty to my ears (I own a Sub Phatty and love it). If all the B gear sounded terrible they wouldn’t sell as many as they have imo. Now re: B’s original Juno copy called the Deepmind, I hated that one. It had no vibe.

I’m def no fan of B but I’ve heard friends make amazing sounding tracks with their gear. It’s what they can afford and they get great results. It’s totally ok to hate B but musicians who can barely pay rent and buy groceries every month need gear too. If I was in that position I’d probably choose B gear.

I’ve played a few Roland Boutique modules and they do sound good. I had the first 106 one and my friend has the later 106/60 model. They sound like Juno’s but I prefer my old 106. But again I’ve heard friends make great tracks with the boutique line. I don’t like how they use micro USB jacks for power though. I know Roland uses ACB in many of their higher end units but the Boutique line is more comparable to the B stuff.

Well, they can take legal action. But, ultimately, that probably won’t drive their sales up significantly. This exists because their product is either unobtainable or just not attractive for a lot of people because of the price. Suing behringer isn’t going to change that.

It might make them think twice about <allegedly> repurposing/reusing another company's IP though.

Companies with designs/products worth protecting still need to enforce it via the courts.

I don’t disagree. But part of me also thinks that having a knock-off might make the “real” thing more appealing for some. Conversely I think berhinger knock off stuff has been getting better. Who knows

It’s such an odd phenomenon. Kids and younger people really don’t delve too deep anymore. That long winded post is lucky to have caught any traction.

Might be, but from my experience with today's kids (having two myself in early 20s, and knowing many of their friends and others), they are way more practical. You won't see them watching endless YT videos or reviews, or engaging themselves in endless tonewood/Gibson headstock/vintage correct tortoiseshell pickguard etc etc discussions on TGP or wherever. That stuff is for us Gen X and older folks. Kids simply don't care.

Haha…I’m millennial (35). With that said, kids care. Just not until they’re older. I didn’t care about it either until OSG indoctrinated me

For anyone hatin' on these guys looking for an alternative? I have the original that I love to pieces but due to size constraints on my pedal board I've found the min MXR "Deep Phase" to be pretty damn spot on at a fraction of the size.
