This is the one major flavor of dirt I’ve never tried.
Not sure why.

I like them, tried different versions for the past 15 years or so. My favourite was a hand made germanium Distortion +, and currently have one of the Cram era DOD reissues.
Had a Grey Channel for a couple years but could never get along with it, and went back to the DOD.

I've spent the last few days playing bass with a regular DOD 250 (clone) as my distortion and it's a stunner!
It maintains bassy tones along with the drive and fuzz.
And when I stack it with a fuzz face or big muff it roars!

The worst thing I can say about a 250 is that it sounds really good as a dirty boost with the gain turned down but then it sounds a little better with the gain turned up a bit. And then the gain turned up a bit. And then the gain turned up a bit. And then the gain turned up a bit. And pretty soon, it's maxed out again.

At near-lowest gain, it becomes such an excellent preamp - just a bit hairier than a MXR Micro Amp!

My hot take: The Klon kinda sucks. The 250 out Klons the Klon at it's own game at low gain.

Thirded. I’d like to see all your builds, learn more about York pedal collection etc…
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

None that I know of

York pedals? You lost me there. I'm afraid I've really tapered off on builds too. I haven't built many pedals for a long time because I find it too tedious and amps tend to be too pricey to build too many. For the past few years, I've been too overwhelmed by my job and projects at home to even complete the projects I have on my bench. I have made progress on my 70's Hiwatt se4122 cab n the past 2 weeks though, I've been fixing and cleaning out my house to get it ready to sell so I had the space to work on it so I finished leveling out the wood, patching the holes and starting staining it. Just gotta start applying the clear poly now. I would rather have it in one piece to move rather than in a bunch of pieces, less fragile that way. Double win if I can get the Orange cab done too and then I can get rid of the Marshall 1960a and not have to move it all.sal paradise wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 1:04 pmThirded. No word of a lie - I mainly want one because it's brown.

that anniversary edition looks cool although i tend to only ever use one "mode" on pedals with a toggle like that. i'm a little confused by the Ge/ASYM setting - would that be just a distortion+? or an OD1?

I guess in hindsight, that's a lot more obvious...
