Ahh bump it arrived like a week ago  :D I'm actually pretty pleased. Its kinda fuzzy and nice

I dislike the thing that it doesn't really work well with my rat, it gets all overtoney and shit. Maybe its just my settings or placement i dont know. I've got it to after my rat.  But the controls are fucking sensitive, What kind of settings are you guys using? everythings kinda in the middle for me now.

Zombie thread!

I was thinking of either picking up one of these, or building a superfuzz. Are they even comparable? Suggestions?

i think the boss fz-2 is the superfuzz one. this is more like a mix between a drive and a muff. very usable with a jazzmaster for swervedrivery tonez. i'm actually loving a stock BD-2 atm as well for main overdrive. all my boutique pedals don't sound as good to me through my current rig. super reverb.

cheap boss pedals FTW

So if I'm looking for something as a complement to my Big Muff, the HM-2 wouldn't exactly be the top of the list, would it?

It depends on how you want to use it. It might work. The HM-2 gets compared to a Big Muff alot, and they can get some similar sounds, but it's not really a fuzz, certainly not as fuzzy/wooly as a Big Muff, it doesn't have the super sustain of a Muff, and, IMO, it's best sound is with the gain rather backed down and the volume much further up, and you won't get anything like that sound with a big muff. Plus, overall, it handles chords alot better than any Muff I've played. So, depending on what you're looking for, it could be cool. Unfortunately, I never tried stacking the two pedals, so I can't tell yyou how that would work.

:w00t: I've got a Taiwanese HM-2 and i absolutely LOVE it!

You can get big muffy sounds with the bass knob around 1 and the high/mid knob about 11 but as said before it's still more distortion than fuzz. If you turn the gain like 95% of the way down it gets J Mascis' clean/dirty tone then stomp on a muff for the heavier bits :D ...did i mention i love them?

I tend to use mine with both tones about 1 and the gain down low (about 9o'clock) for a crunchy swervedriver thing and then use a muff (currently a tone wicker or rams head) for thicker wall of sound things. They seem to compliment one another really well IMO though even with the gain up full it doesn't have the hour long sustain of a muff.

I need to get a Japanese one before they get too expensive.

Oddly enough, I sold my HM-2 a couple of weeks ago.
