Re: The D.I.Y. thread.
I call this my Fanta Fuzz...because the orange knobs remind me of Orange Fanta.
I started with a BYOC Lil' Fuzz kit.
http://buildyourownclone.com/collection" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... l-fuzz-kit
I made a couple of changes to the stock Lil' Fuzz:
I always run my Gain/Fuzz knob on max so I hard wired the Fuzz to maximum (2k resistor) and removed the Fuzz pot.
I like having access to the BIAS pot so I installed an Alpha 25k pot for added flexibility.
The stock 2.2uF input capacitor is too bassy for me so I added a Bright/Fat switch to select between 33nF (Bright) and 0.33uF (Fat) input capacitors.
This Fuzz sounds pretty incredible and is amazingly small!
As you can see, I have the 33nF cap board mounted and the switch puts the 0.33uF in parallel.
I might bump that one up just a bit for a touch more low-end.
And here's a bonus shot of it next to a ginormous EJ Fuzz and a Fuzz Factory clone that used to look smallish.

What kind of switch would I need in order to convert a 2 position slider switch into a footswitch? Just a standard dpdt switch?

Is it possible to make a maxed-out knob switchable? Basically I'd like to have the knob on a pedal set to a certain setting and then have the ability to make the knob switchable so that it's at full. Possible?

current will always follow path of least resistance. so wire pot as normal, then make jumper from center lug to 1 side of switch and from outside lug to the other lug on the switch u can use an spst switch for this.StevenO wrote:Is it possible to make a maxed-out knob switchable? the other way to do it uses a spdt, it does exactly the same thing, but one side of the switch sends signal to pot and the other side sends it straight back to the board. but its exactly the same end result as the above easier method.

Interesting. Could I wire a momentary switch to do the same? Also, when I do go to do this, could I PM you for guidance?

Got the first of these done (im making 10)...
Loving how well the graphics turned out.
Trotsky drive into fulltone fat boost into dam meathead with added gain control and "super fat" switch.

Re: The D.I.Y. thread.
While listening to the Cubs vs Brewers game going 13 innings on MLB At Bat last night (What a game!) I was able to build up my new Silver Pony kit (purchased from Alchemy Audio) in one sitting. Mas cafe por favor...
I gave it a quick listen last night to make sure it all works.

What drill bit sizes do you use for drilling holes for switches, pots, and jacks?

Re: The D.I.Y. thread.
depends on what size pots you use.StevenO wrote:What drill bit sizes do you use for drilling holes for switches, pots, and jacks?
I've included Metric for our non-US member(i personally prefer metric anyway)
i personally use 9/32"(7mm) for pots(if you use 24mm pots you'll need 5/16"(8mm))
3/8"(10mm) for jacks
1/2" or 15/32"(12mm) for power jack and 3pdt
13/64" for LED
My drill bit set (from ace hardware) has convenient little holes in front of the bits so you can stick the parts through to make sure they will fit.
