So....apologies if I've asked this before, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Slicer will do panning tremolo, effectively rendering crazy-priced PN-2 GAS (PAS?) dead in the water, especially given all its extra features.

Can you, or anyone else who has tried one, confirm or deny this?
Yes. I have not used the old (very rare & expensive) one to know how similar or different that effect might be, but you can definitely feel the stereo field moving around. Keeping in mind that first and foremost it's a slicer, but there are also 11 tremolo patterns.

There are 7 output modes. These 5 are stereo.
Random: randomly output from the left, right & centre positions
Ping-pong: alternates between left & right
Auto: pans evenly between left & right
3D cross: pans both evenly left-right and front-back (actually it's only 2D...)
3D rotation: rings around like a hula hoop (also actually only 2D...)

The other 2 modes
Fixed: effectively dual-mono
EFX/Dir: separate wet & dry signals

Thanks for the info. The SL-2 looks like a complex and not very intuitive piece of kit, especially as two users here are confessing to only scratching the surface.

I suppose a mono tremolo signal sent to a panning/ping-pong delay could achieve similar results....or I could just use my Behringer PN-2 clone if I ever feel the need. :D :fp:

When I read about pedals like the Slicer, I get the feeling like Boss engineers are just letting us know how bored they are making overdrives and fuzzes and they're quietly overcompensating.

I overstated that aspect a bit, I got confused with the SY-1 Synthesizer. The basic SL-2 settings are more intuitive. It's a great stereo tremolo hidden inside a slicer pedal, with lots of cool slicer effects.
