Re: BOSS HM-2
I just scored an HM-2 for $40 with BIN on the 'bay. Looking forward to experiencing it's brand of dirt. After reading through this thread earlier today I started GASsing big time. Luckily one popped up in my price range with reasonable shipping.

Re: BOSS HM-2
got it by mail today
i only tried it a few minutes on my practice amp, and it seems to sound good, not too metal if you don't scoop the mids.
tomorrow i'll try it in rehearsal.
it needs a 12V adaptor, but if i didn't misunderstood, there's a the way to use a 9V adaptor, right ?

When I was on GAS for that I've done some reserach, you've to remove and than jumper the 470k resistor and the diode that come just before the DC jackeupat wrote: got it by mail today

Re: BOSS HM-2
in fact it works with the 9V daisy chain.
but i'm almost disappointed with the sound.
it sounds between my FabTone and my BigMuff (black), but it lacks presence.
if I add an OD, it's better, but not The Sound.

I saw Adams pedalboard, there was no HMP! Guitar geek sux! He used a Super Feedbacker, Hotcake and MKII. I wouldn't trust anything guitar geek says.daydreamdelay wrote: supposedly Belinda used them as did Adam from Swervedriver but that's according to guitar geek which isn't always accurate.. maybe evoluzione will pop in to confirm if she used it or not

It will sound different with a 9v daisy chain. Mine sounds totally different with a battery and great.eupat wrote: in fact it works with the 9V daisy chain.

You've also got to learn how to set it up. It works best with a clean amp or a tiny bit of dirt. Try these settings: Level = 1, low color = 2/3 high color = 12/1/2 Dist = 9/10

Re: BOSS HM-2
I've modded mine so I can use it with a 9v adaptor, if you're interested I'll post a mini photo-essay of sorts here. It's a lot more convenient this way and it's easily reversible if you want to sell it.

Re: BOSS HM-2
Do you mean the Tonebender MKII? Wouldn't be the first time guitargeek.com has gotten a rig wrong. I saw Swervedriver, in San Francisco, during the 99th Dream tour. Loudest show I have ever been to. Sadly, I was younger then, and didn't know much about pedals, so I never bothered to get a good look at their pedal set-ups.I saw Adams pedalboard, there was no HMP! Guitar geek sux! Is there any other kind? I was lucky enough to see them in a tiny club in Oaklahoma City. Jimmy had to lift his guitar over my head to move.sleepy-d wrote: Do you mean the Tonebender MKII?

Re: BOSS HM-2
Proud Owner/Operator of an HM-2 here...almost certainly the greatest deal for a used distortion pedal out there at the minute. Turn up the lows, turn down the highs and let it rip. One of Boss' best.

Re: BOSS HM-2
I like the tone of my hm-2, but I find it just doesn't have enough output to cut through in a live setting. Anyone else have this problem?
