Ibanez Tragedy
How come *almost* every Ibanez pedal I've owned has an issue with it EXCEPT for the 5 & 7 series ??
If anything they're the iffy ones, right ? Not in my experience - no issues among 6 different units.
H o w e v e r,
my beloved Super Stereo Chorus CS10 needs a new switch spring and I can't be sure what fits.
The last CS9 I had couldn't pass an effected signal through it.
Many of the Ibanez Echo Shifters have switching problems.
Saddest part is that the Ibanez 10 series is one of my favorite pedal series ever.

Re: Ibanez Tragedy
Yeah, they tend to have issues over the years. Maybe boss did actually come up with the best pedal design...
They all have their drawbacks: switches on the 9 series, jacks on the 10/L series, aesthetics on the 10 series, power jack (and price) on x0x series...
Maybe track down a broken 10/L pedal as a spring donor. Or get an LA Metal one and wire it to be always on. Because: LA METAL.

Re: Ibanez Tragedy
Isnt the bypass on the 10/L series really (really) bad?
The only pedal to this day that i sold "just" because of the bypass was a pretty good sounding delay, Ibanez DDL...

Re: Ibanez Tragedy
everything on the SC10 imo, aside from not having a spring, is brilliant.
no matter where the 3 knobs are turned it sounds great and useable.
the unit adds this rich sort of treble EQ boost/sparkle to my entire signal - i guess it's a unique buffer or maybe the chorus really just is *that* good,
but it's one of my top 3 pedals of all time. it's strange to say about a chorus, but it just makes everything sound so good i want to write songs around
it.

Re: Ibanez Tragedy
i've still got the blues on this situation.
the switch is getting harder to activate but the effect sounds just as brilliant as ever.
i was listening to the 3 or 4 delay pedals that the Ibanez 10 series put out and the choruses on the modulated delays
sounded extremely close to the SC10. i know that at least on one of those units you can dial the delay out completely.
that might be a good option down the road if this SC10 can't be corrected. at least then you have chorus and delay in one
good-sounding box. a friend of mine who's constantly doing BYOC-type builds won't touch the 10-series with a ten foot pole.
he said it'd be a rehousing nightmare, but i think he's just being

Are you still using the SC10 and did you ever figure out how to rehouse it?

Re: Ibanez Tragedy
I still think the 9 series are super stable and easy to repair. The 10 series seem to suffer from pots that get dirty easily for some reason, otherwise they're fine. I've never owned the 5 & 7 series but maybe I should check something out.

Re: Ibanez Tragedy
I had store credit somewhere and bought the Maxon CS550 and I think I like the SC10 better. Maybe I need to spend a bit more time with it but I loved the SC10 the moment I plugged in. I'd love to try a CS9 one of these days.

Re: Ibanez Tragedy
I think I found a pedal that you might appreciate. I just played an Ibanez RC99 this morning and it's awesome. Much more robust than the SC10 and a better foot switch. My only complaints so far are that the input jack is on the top left and the output jacks are on the right, and it takes up twice the pedalboard space. I haven't A/B'd them so I can't yet say if it does that EQ thing but it's close enough that I immediately like it more than the Maxon CS550.preservation wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2017 1:19 pmeverything on the SC10 imo, aside from not having a spring, is brilliant.

Thanks to the SC10 I really like choruses to have a delay time knob and this has that plus a mix control. I haven't really messed with it yet but I watched a video this morning and with the mix knob you can get into vibrato territory.
It's still a standard chorus which means it won't replace something like my shallow water, and I can't imagine ever selling my SC10, but this could easily take it's place on a gig board.
I don't see much online about the RC99. Does anyone else have much experience with it?
