the closest thing I have to this the ss/bs Mini, which can get very distorted/fuzzy, but also works as a great slightly gritty boost

The Spaceman Saturn V is also a great always on boost/low gain OD. Thightens everything and adds a touch of sparkle.

Deadendfx makes a clone PCB (The Flint).

Been a couple years and have been through a handful of pedals. I like having something always on, especially if it bumps the mids a bit.

I thought I’d found a permanent winner with the Rocket Archer Ikon, it loves my tele and JM. Always on with just a hint of gain through a cleanish amp, or dialed up through a breaking up amp as a main distortion.

I still found that I preferred a TS type pedal with my humbucker guitars. First a Fulldrive 2, then Since last fall a Plumes to save space. The Ikon stayed on though because it played nice with everything.

My jag threw a wrench into the use the Ikon plan though, it sounds meh with it, but it loves the Plumes. So I’ve got the Plumes on my board now as a compromise.

I’m going to try a JHS Morning Glory for awhile, it seems to have some of the Ikon mojo and I like the gain remote switch as another gain stage with it. My jags in for service, so it will be the real test for the MG when I get to put it through it’s paces at volume.

DOD 250. A classic and sounds great.

Way Huge Red Llama, gain/drive set no higher than 9 o'clock. Really dynamic, goes from fat and clean to a tweedy grit with picking strength.

In the last few months of only playing in my apartment through my '72 Champ set on 3, my Crowther Hot Cake has been promoted from casual acquaintance to full-time sidekick and confidante.

I got one in the blowout sale and it's one of the best things I've bought. Simple and great.

Lately it's this guy. Even at about 3 oclock it's still not really gainy and you can stack anything on top of it for layers of dirt.

new candidate for me: the Halberd from Electronic Audio Experiments. it's really incredible. the builder describes it as "If Neil Young played guitar for Drive Like Jehu" and that pretty much nails it

These pedals are kept on individually depending on my set up and clean or dirty tonal needs:
JHS Morning Glory
Seymour Duncan 805
Xotic SP
JHS Angry Charlie

I have 2 that are almost always on. Catalinbread Naga Viper and my EQD Westwood. If one isn't on, the other is for sure. Both do different things, but both are almost interchangeable for what I play. Naga Viper driving the Westwood is really good too.

BD-2! Used it for years, it's always-on for every genre, soft or heavy, both knobs at 10->11 o'clock depending on the guitar used.
This! Exactly my setting. It's the first pedal after the guitar.

I just got a v2, which I've been trying against an older Benson Preamp that has been my main nearly always on pedal for a bit. It's definitely got something going on. I think if I could add the Halberd's voicing switch to the Benson, that might be perfect, but the Halberd has a kind of tightness that stands out too.

Not really an overdrive on their own, but I almost always use some form of booster with my smaller amps.

Analogman Beano boost- for nice and nasty trebly tones
Zvex SHO & Super Duper- full range with no low end roll off, great for making everything sound bigger
Lehle Sunday Driver- great buffer and the boost function can be either transparent or with some character

I have been wanting to try a Hudson Broadcast. Hopefully I’ll be able to get one some time.
