Let's talk about tweed type overdrives
I've been trying to find that right one for a while. Can't decide should I just bought Catalinbread Formula 55 or should I try to find something else like Way Huge Red Llama 25th Edition. I just wanna try to get those loud crazyhorsey crumbling distortions.

Several of the JFET based drives do this well. I've had a SSBS Mini and a Benson Preamp that could pull off that sound. Supposedly the Fairfield Barbershop does as well. The SUF Dirt Preacher with the gain between 7 o'clock and 9 o' clock and the mids dialed up sounds pretty tweedy. Past 9 o'clock it sounds like you're hitting the amp with a Muff.

I just picked up a Tech 21 Blonde. With the character knob past about 1 o'clock it starts to get that honky thing happening. It has onboard speaker simulation, but that can be switched off.
Not exactly a tweed sound, but the Emerson EM-Drive has always been intriguing to me. It's marketed as "transparent", but gets pretty ragged and fuzzy with the gain at the upper end of the range. I've skipped through all of the tasteful sounds earlier in this demo:

It's a super simple circuit.

That Emerson is quite nice and a good contender. I like that's so simple but don't know for sure could I get those special sounds from that. Maybe with some Fuzz Face.

The Red Llama is always a great, affordable option for tweed-like OD. I use a BenAdrian Bunnydrive that is based on the Anderton Tube Sound fuzz circuit (the same the Red Llama is based on) and it has been my main fuzzy OD for years. I've heard the EHX Hot Tubes is also based on the Anderton circuit, so it could also be an option. I also use a Prescription Electronics RX Overdriver for more fuzzy (and loud) sounds. The PE is a clone of the Colorsound Overdriver which has a similar character, check that circuit out!

.
Find a Joyo American Sound pedal, a copy of the Tech 21 Blonde, it covers a lot of ground. $30 new.

Yeah. It’s probably too low gain on its own for really blown out sounds.
I’d like to get or build one someday. I like how it’s classy sounding at the low end of the gain sweep and kinda sounds broken as you crank it up.

The Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop Overdrive is known as a nice “tweed” sounding overdrive, without being an amp-in-a-box type pedal. It does more than just tweed tones though, but people seem to like the Neil Young tones they can get out of it and it has nice volume knob dynamics if you want to leave it on all the time. There’s even a model without a foot switch for that.

I had a Lovepedal Les Lius that did the overdriven tweed thing pretty well. Not sure if they're still made, however.

Durham Crazy Horse
I've got a DIY kit/clone of this one, and it does the fuzzy NY sound rather well. Also, does a good volume knob clean-up, so you can back off to a cool, mild overdrive sound from the full-on blown-out setting. There's an old Andy PGS video that demonstrates this aspect of the Crazy Horse really nicely.

Well, that’s a really aptly named pedal...

It's a boost booster, to boost your boost - it makes your tone much muchier.
