Your Favorite Reverb Pedal

I went through a lot of options but settled on the Strymon Big Sky and Neunaber Immerse MKII. I love the sounds and features of both pedals. I run the Immerse into the Big Sky. Very easy to get a lot of interesting sounds with this setup (fun fact: Slowdive use a Neunaber Stereo Wet as their main reverb in their live shows, and their guitarist Christian also uses a Big Sky). I also really love the Strymon Flint's 80s Hall reverb so I plan to get that pedal in the near future. I can't seem to get close to that sound in the pedals I own.

If I had to pick a favorite, it would probably be the Immerse MKII. The Big Sky is the fancier, more versatile pedal, but at half the price of the Big Sky the Immerse MKII is much better value for the money and is quite versatile in its own right. I could totally live with it as my sole reverb, if needed. Its Hall and Plate modes are great, W3T is awesome, Sustain is awesome, Shimmer is really good, and Echo mode is nice to have if you don't want to plug in a delay pedal. It also goes 100% wet (unlike the original Immerse), which really nails those early 90s shoegaze sounds with ease.

Did your Context 2 ever have an issue with a fizzy sound? When I was messing with mine in the spring mode, using the second layer delay controls, and trying to save a preset, a fizzy sound came up that I couldn't get rid of. I still haven't heard from Red Panda yet as the firmware update didn't work for me.

I'll second the TC electronic hof or hof mini is a nice do it all option that is reasonably priced. Either for a special effect like toneprint or a basic one. Personally I've been using the digitech polara recently which I'm pretty happy with. It's impossible to read but it sounds good.

For a long time the EHX Holy Grail Deluxe was the only reverb I owned and it lived in Tiny Amp Town with the Vibro Champ and AC4TV. It was great, but I fell prey to tone snobbery and traded it away for the admittedly great Vanamps Solemate Spring Reverb, which does that Fender spring thing perfectly. The VChamp loved it, the Vox didn't.

Fast forward ten years or so, and I get the Milkman One Watt Plus, which has neither reverb or trem. I'm in the mood for moody, so I get Caroline's Meteore and Parabola reverb and trem pedals. Which are pretty wild. The Meteore with do the spring reverb thing when it's turned down, but it really shines when you go all spaces and lo-fi with it. And everyone knows about my love for the Parabola.

Thing is, I want a trad Fender/Vox reverb/trem setup for the Milkman, but don't want to spend the $$$$ on the obvious choice, the Strymon Flint.

Then, Eric Haugen, one of my main guys on YouTube, switches from his Flint to Fender's new Tre-Verb, which has one channel with brownface/blackface/hall reverb on one side, and brownface/blackface/harmonic trem on the other. Both sound great. I'm very happy with it, and it's smaller than the Solemate. Oh, and you can flip the routing of the signal to have either reverb or trem first in the signal chain, which is really cool.

I'm kinda looking at a Metéore finally. Anyone ever try one on bass?

The ones on the CDR are much different. Maybe they can be dialed in better than the standard settings and the ones I’ve tried to modify, but they just don’t sound as good. I have 2, so it’s not like I don’t like the CDR. It’s got a ton of good effects so it’s very versatile and the effects are stackable in any order. But sometimes dedicated, specialized pedals are just better at what they do.

I agree, I have two CDR's as well. They're great for a lot of things and I love them too, but the shimmer reverb on it isn't very good. If it was better, maybe I wouldn't see shimmer as a basic need on dedicated reverb pedals.

I'm another owner of two CDRs. I think the shimmer verb on it is OK. It's kind of too "sweet" sounding, with the shimmer a perfect octave above. I don't actually use it.

I also own a Supernatural reverb pedal, which has the best shimmer around, IMO. What I like about it is that it's a couple of cents flat, so it ends up sounding kind of moody rather than doing the whole "clouds parting with an angel choir" thing that shimmer verbs usually go for. If the supernatural had a reverse mode, it'd be the greatest reverb pedal of them all, IMO.

Nope, I can't say I've experienced that. Have you updated the firmware?

Tim Lefebvre loves using the Meteore on bass. I tried it a couple of times in a music shop (on bass) but found it wasn't to my taste, though I didn't really have the chance to take a true deep dive

I tried, but my computer wouldn't recognize the pedal as a USB storage device. I'm talking with Curt now.

Gotcha. I feel bad for them, rolling out a release like this during COVID. Not a great time to be working out bugs. But I do love how it sounds. And Curt and the team have been really responsive/helpful whenever I've reached out

I bought a Walrus Audio Fathom a few weeks ago and have been loving the sounds it makes...it can do some crazy stuff, but I mostly live in the Plate setting, dialled it for more "normal" sounds.
