At the risk of belaboring a point, I think the Zoom would really fit the bill here.
I’m looking at it and it certainly seems ideal and you can get one for £65 or so but I’ve already blown my budget on an Ibanez Admini Delay and Csmini Chorus. Like many posters I thought it best to just buy quality and I think these are great for guitar, bass and her Microbrute. Should be fine, I did think of just mirroring me and going all BOSS but I want it to be Backpackable.

Great tools. She’ll be excited and they’ll serve her well for a long time.

Agreed, well done.

And their mini size might lead someone to assume they’re even less expensive than they are, if the optics of the situation matter

Can't go wrong with any of the older Zoom G1/G1X stuff, masses of effects for beginners to mess around with, decent internal and modifiable drum machines, solid tuner functions and can be picked up for less than £40 on any second hand sites etc.

I swear by my old Zoom G1 pedals and use them at every gig I've ever played.

So...just a reverb to find and a couple of weeks to find it, despite me already blowing the budget and saying I was just going with the two pedals. I’m on the cusp of rejecting another mini pedal and just going for a BOSS RV5 or maybe. I’ve also got a BOSS DD5 for her that a mate sold me for the princely sum of his basket in a record shop...or £33 in old money. Add that to the BOSS SD1 or DF1 I’ve got for her to choose between (I’m encouraging the SD1) and I think it’s a good setup that she can expand on or stick with as the years go by and I think I’ll buy her the Ibanez mini flanger for Christmas and keep a relaxed eye out for a compact fuzz.

Big thanks for all the advice.

SD1's all the way, I'd love to see a pic of the full pedalboard before you give it to her.
