Fake Pedal, But Man It Would Be Cool

I found this on Modular Grid while messing with some other things, and had to do some research. Apparently it's a fan-made mock-up, not a leaked BOSS picture, but it would be SO cool if they actually made it.

I'd buy that. I have almost bought the double Boss RE-20 pedal many times, but it just seems like it would take up too much pedalboard real-estate for how sparingly I'd probably use it. An RE-2w would be perfect though.

The CE-2w is good enough that I don't regret selling my CE-1, and same with the DC-2w and the old DC-2 I had. The VB-2w has allowed me to enjoy a pedal I really like that I would not otherwise have been able to justify purchasing (the VB-2 sells for an increasingly ridiculous amount of money these days).

Crazier things have happened and I know a lot of fan boys want an RE-2w, so it may just happen yet....

The RC-20XL was my first looper and it took up too much space, so I definitely agree. I like that those pedals aren't cramped, but I feel like something like this, if properly designed, could fit just perfect in a single BOSS sized enclosure. That would be SUCH a cool pedal to have.

I had the double-sized one for a while. I remember there being a weird clock noise that would happen whether engaged or not. There was a simple fix for it (buffer after? buffer before? something with gain placement?) that I don't remember. Good pedal otherwise, and yes I'd be very tempted by this format.

I laughed when I opened this because I had a feeling I would see that mock-up. A single pedal RE20 would be pretty great. I love the RE20, but you have to work around the size and quirks. I’m not certain I’d want a modulation control as the RE20’s modulation on repeats has always seemed to be tuned perfectly. Keeping the eq and the odd reverb seem more important. Higher headroom would be nice, as would a straight to oscillation option other than the Twist.

As a huge Boss fanboy I would jump on this right away if they released it. I really love the whole concept of the Waza line. I have the VB-2w and although I own a OG CE-2 I really want the waza version to get the extra CE-1 modes.

Have you folks seen this yet:

I would guess FZ-2w based on the color scheme but they did say "Like nothing we have ever created" so who knows maybe we will get a double pedal in single pedal format.

modulation controls on delays always go from "can't hear it" to "sounds naff". i don't use an amount of pedals numerous enough to be concerned with the size of any particular unit, and the re20 sounds and works well enough to justify the floor space cost. a standard boss-sized unit would inevitably be compromised in some way.

I'd buy that in a heartbeat. I've avoided picking up the big, double RE because I like to run a small board and space is at a premium. But in that format, i could see swapping out my DD8 for sure.

Same. I knew it was gonna be this thing but I still wasn't sad to see it.

I've been looking into that NUX Tape Core Deluxe pedal recently which seems to basically be this. Reviews are reasonably enthusiastic about it, so might do the trick?

No lie, I had one as my "fuzz" in my first real band and I loved it. It sounded like an Op Amp muff with a cocked wah thing going on, which is not a pretty sounding, but it sounded massive and cut through surprisingly well.

I have the NUX and indeed, it does do most of the things the RE-20 does. It's amazingly well done and the price can't be beat.

There is also the Dawner Prince Boonar, which is brilliant (I have no affiliation with this seller -- random Reverb link): https://reverb.com/item/24723080-dawner ... -drum-echo

The first one I got had some wiring that was exposed to the case. The second one I got to replace it is solid.

I would also be very stoked to see this if they ever did it. Echoing (haha) others here, I have only refrained from the big boi version because of pedalboard space.

I saw that thing Boss posted about the new pedal, I was hoping the new Waza stuff was finally gonna bring back the FZ2 or HM2 but if they do something brand new that's really wild that would be cool as well.

I like the new format they've introduced with the DD200, and I hope they chase it more. The DD20/RE20 double pedal thing is practical on a big stage but with more people trying to cram an ME-50's worth of effects into a PT Nano it's better to keep it compact.

Clearly, they have been reading the forum as I have been asking for this fuzz in every thread for a while now ;) All seriousness, though, FZ-2w would be absolutely insane! They would sell like crazy and I'm sure sound fantastic. My guess would be the "like nothing we've ever created" means a lot more fuzz options in the mode control.
