Astral Destiny reverb

Post by fuzzjunkie » Sun Jan 24, 2021 11:11 am

Earthquaker Devices introduced a modulated octave reverb at Namm. Sounds like something a few here would like. The Shimmer down is different than the usual shimmer up.

I like it. It sounds like something I would use a lot of. The only thing that worries me is that all the pedals that EQD have released in that format (Avalanche Run, Pyramids) sound amazing in demos, but are DSP-based, which has never agreed with me.

Love EQD but slightly underwhelmed maybe. Have they not done a shimmer verb before? Has the kind of craze for that passed?

I was wondering that too, but it seems like every time someone asks for a reverb recommendation that isn’t a spring reverb, they want a Shimmer setting. And this has a couple settings I haven’t seen outside an Eventide.

It does more than my Eventide, in a sense. There is no modulation on the Space but you can pitch two octaves a few cents either way which gives the effect of a non-oscillating chorus.

Its the pitch-bending stuff i don't like...besides doing an agressive tom morello whammy, i don't think I'd have the use for that.

The shimmer on the Eventide I mostly use on unison but with the non-oscillating chorus. -/+15 cents. Do sometimes use it for shimmer, like the odd occasion of 'this track needs an organ i don't have'. 2down+2up is good because they feedback into eachother and you get some strange octaves in the range between them all.

You know, I wasn't loving it for guitar, but the EQD site page's demo tracks for synth sound really incredible. I could see picking one up for synth...
