Ha!! I swear this idea was discussed on the forum years ago. Kind of amazing that it's only just being realised now.
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

That's kinda cool. I'm sure it isn't too bad, but my biggest worry would be flimsiness, or it getting flimsier/weaker over time. Pretty neat idea thoug!

Cool execution, but kind of defeats the purpose of a pedalboard for me if you have to take half of the pedals off to fold it up.
Would a better option just be two pedalboards which can be bolted together easily?

Yeah, it seems like a great idea, but I'm not sure about how it would work in real life. I'd be worried about flimsiness too, but assuming that isn't an issue, the carry case is surely completely useless once you use the product as it's intended to be used?
Modular, bolt together boards would be better. Or, you know, two small boards.

Looks like the inside of the case is adjustable so it will accommodate the board regardless of how much you've extended it by:
No matter what size you set XPND to, the transporter bag's customizable partitions can adjust to create a uniquely snug and secure fit.

Re: New Telescoping Pedalboard Concept from D’addario
So the case is big enough to carry the pedalboard fully extended? And if you don't have it fully extended, you use partitions to stop it rattling around?
So you still have to carry something the size and weight of a big pedalboard, just so you can use a small pedalboard?

That's what it looks like. I guess the additional weight is the price you pay for the flexibility.

Dunno, to me it seems like something with the speed and fuel efficiency of a transit van, but with the flexibility to have only as much storage space as a mini.

If that's the board that I wanted, the carrying case size wouldn't be a factor. It would, however, be neat if they offered like 2 or 3 different sizes of carrying case so you could pick the one closest to the size you want to use the board at.

I guess you have to stick to velcro or dual lock for mounting a power supply under?
Not interested. I may eventually do a bigger board, but I know pretty much exactly the size I want.
I do wish there were more modular board options on the market though.

.
I can see the point of the design is you buy the unit when you start, and then as you get more pedals (like that second KLON) and need another expansion row you can slide it open. It's not going to be a snap open for a gig and fold up kind of solution. It's just to expand as your pedal inventory expands. Or contracts as you figure out how to do more with fewer pedals you slim it back down.
They make backpacks with zippered 'expansion' gussets so you can cram twice as much if you need an extended trip or zipper it up for everyday compact size. So they may have worked that feature into the case they are selling.

Re: New Telescoping Pedalboard Concept from D’addario
I imagine it's not meant to be used that way, but rather as something you only embiggen when you want to put more pedals on, and leave it locked at that size to move it around.
This is an excellent rectangle

I can't see this being anything more than a novelty really. It certainly wouldn't be particularly useful for me.
Just buy a bigger board and have it half empty until you eventually fill it.

I wish mine did this right now...or i could buy a bigger board of course.
May be useful for some situations and experiments. If you want to quickly change your setup for a recording but dont want the hassle of too many pedals live. Maybe if you have vocal effects or groovebox you have to add for something.
