Re: sideways pedals
If it was the standard, it would be fine, but I personally can't stand sideways pedals, either placed that way on a board by me, or built that way like Z-Vex. It's a pain in the ass when almost everything else is vertically oriented.

Right. I really don’t want to be stepping on pots if I can help it.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 5:36 amIf it was the standard, it would be fine, but I personally can't stand sideways pedals, either placed that way on a board by me, or built that way like Z-Vex. Re: sideways pedals
Zachary Vex cannot be wrong.
What? He's putting all those sideways pedals in vertical boxes now?
Never mind.

Re: sideways pedals
The only sideways pedal that actually worked for me was my vintage Deluxe Memory Man.
The only way for it to fit on my board was to turn it sideways; which I hate the idea of, but since it was the last pedal it actually helped in 2 ways:
1- The foot switch was actually a few inches closer to where I stood and the knobs were at the top in this orientation instead of in the path of the switch.
2- The input and outputs were now facing out from the board, which was a better situation for cable routes and running to my amps.
But yeah, I hate when someone turns a Tubescreamer sideways on the middle row and the only way to turn it on is with your heel with toes lifted or turn your foot at some awkward angle.

Re: sideways pedals
I prefer not to if I can. It's not the end of the world if I have to do though, BUT it has to still be easy to get to. Right now, I had to rotate my Big MUff to fit it, but I can still get to the switch easily.

Re: sideways pedals
Your board is looking a little cramped. Might need a little bigger one?

Haha! It’s a slippery slope. If I swap over to a bigger one I’ll soon be at about 30 pedals. As long as this one is 110% capacity, I can’t fit anymore and I’m good. I know myself too well!

Re: sideways pedals
That's my big thing too. It's a pain trying to organize pedals on the board that are mostly vertical, with a couple that are horizontal, but my big worry is always stepping on pots.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 5:58 amRight. From all the Z.Vex love around here, I would very much be interested in vertical versions of his pedals, but I also realize that the horizontal look is a part of his signature at this point too.

Re: sideways pedals
Too true. At least you won’t be like me and accidentally buy a pedal you already had, but forgot because it was in a bucket of pedals….i love sharin foo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 2:29 pmHaha! Re: sideways pedals
No option for purely functional reasons? Id have thought an instagram pedalphile would want them aligned perfectly, buy pedals by colour scheme and have spent more time making sure there are super neat cables than playing it.
I have an Eventide pedal. They have the input on left and output right. This happens.
Buying patches of the right length is impractical sometimes.
And i use a pedtrain which has bars so sometimes smaller pedals end up that way.
Currently somehow i dont though. Its all Tetris.

Re: sideways pedals
I voted no but just realized I'm a fraud. I put a tiny tuner sideways on a Metro board.

Re: sideways pedals
I said no, but I do keep a mini booster at its side in the middle of my board to keep volume the same when I switch to my jag from my Tele or JM. It never gets stomped on though. Anything that gets stomped on IMO should be vertical to reduce the risk of stomping on a pot in the heat of the moment.

Re: sideways pedals
I wouldn’t say that ZVex (err.. “normal” ZVex) pedals are sideways, because that’s how they were designed. Now if you took a Fuzz Factory and rotated it such that the input was on the bottom and the output on the top - just so it could fit some imaginary grid pattern on a chunk of metal - well then…
But really my vote is for “LOL PEDALBOARD”… everything is easier since I got off the Pedaltrain (pun fully intended)…
