I think it’s similar to the Nevermind sound. Give a DS-1 major label funding for studio, talented producer & top mastering. Hey presto! Cheap pedals sound amazing.

And not to mention Jonny Greenwood himself. I would bet that he's got a better for that kind of thing (producing/recording, EQ, etc.) than Kurt ever would have...

True, I heard stories about Radioheads early shows. And the Pablo honey tour they were using lovely vintage Mesa heads and such. They knew sound.
